Will the second coming of Jesus be considered a reincarnation of himself?
There are those that believe in the second coming, as spoken in Revelations. There are those that believe that, yet don't believe in reincarnation. If he comes back as himself, does that not count as reincarnation or does one have to come back as something else to be considered a reincarnation? Can one believe in both? Another hubber made me aware of verses that applied to this issue, but I'm not sure I understand. Help!
This is a question that theologians find challenging. The classic Christian answer is that reincarnation is not an acceptable Christian doctrine, and that the resurrection of Jesus and his Second Coming, and what Jesus meant for us when he said "those who believe and live will never die, and those who believe and die will live again" (John 11:25-26) were talking about something else, not reincarnation.
But there are other Christian views. I was speaking to a world-renowned theologian in private conversation, and he said that reincarnation means getting a new body, so that the resurrection on the first Easter Sunday was a reincarnation of a sort right there.
As I understand it, Jesus already has a new body. He sits at the right hand of the Father, but he is not limited to being in Heaven. Indeed, he, like the Father, is omnipresent, and makes himself apparent in response to his prayers. He has a body that is free of limitation - it can appear at any time or place. In this model, the Second Coming will not be a reincarnation - he will wear the body he has worn since the first Easter. It is simply a big trip to Earth, and he's bringing all his friends.
A Course in Miracles has another take on this. In its Teachers Manual, in answer to a question "Is reincarnation so?" it point out that neither God nor the Son of God could ever fit into a human body. So all this world has never even seen one incarnation. Rather we, the sons and daughters of God, believe we are here, then ask questions about going and coming. But this world is like a dream, and,in reality, we are safe in heaven, but we have fallen asleep and dream this life. Let's wake up!
Will the second coming of Jesus be considered a reincarnation of himself? Well, if you call a spade a spade, then it is reincarnation, nothing more, nothing less. But then again, the human mind is very sophisticated. Like lawyers, they will distinguish His case from all other cases, claiming that God does not need to reincarnate. And if He does, it's called "The Second Coming".
The usual meaning of reincarnation is that a person dies and comes back to life as another, hopefully, higher form of life. That has no support at all from the Scriptures. Resurrection, on the other hand, is the coming back to life of the same individual who died. The Bible teaches that we shall have new bodies but they will be recognized as the same people as known before. When Jesus rose from the dead, his disciples recognized him as the very one that they had come to admire and love. By the way, Jesus' inhabits his resurrected body at this very moment, and has since the resurrection 2000 years ago. When he returns he will have the same body the disciples observed him to have after the resurrection, scars an all.
The scriptures do allude to reincarnations. There is reincarnation, transfiguration, and resurrection. I have read about all three in scripture
brend , please give me scriptures for reincarnation because there are NONE in a real bible
The most commonly accepted principle of reincarnation is that you come back in order to be given another chance to move to a higher level of being and achieve spiritual perfection. Although some religion somewhere will say you come back as exactly the same person, most say that you come back in a different body (different physical appearance).
So will Jesus be a reincarnated person when he returns? No. I base that answer on the principles listed above. Here are my two main reasons.
1. He will have the same body he had when he was here the first time.
2. He doesn't need to return again and again to reach spiritual perfection. He was the sinless one who never disobeyed God.
Does a person have to choose to believe only one or the other? Can they believe both at the same time? People are free to believe whatever they want.
Reincarnation is not necessarily always for a "chance to move to a higher level of being and achieve spiritual perfection: It is also to finish something and wouldn't the second coming be for finishing something? Like gathering the saints?
brenda-- again give supporting scripture for you assertions
how can it be reincarnation when He returns? He is not dead, HE IS ALIVE, and just left for a season and will return. (read your bible, it is clear) there are many trying to make reincarnation acceptable to CHristianity. It is not a CHristian doctrine and is meant by satan to bring confusion, which it does.
Its those who also teach many other false doctrines, including but not limited to universalism ( everyone gets saved in the end), all religions are leading to the same end, buddhism, etc.
The scriptures are clear There is ONE WAY, through the man Christ Jesus. There is NO religion equal to Christianity
We live, we die, or live til the judgement. At which time (judgement) the dead in Christ are brought back to life ( reassembled not a different body) then after the judgement we are given an eternal form not a different human body as the human race no longer exists.
So, according to your answer, if our "reassembled" selves become an "eternal form", is that not a reincarnation in itself? Please keep comments on topic rather than picking at other's answers. The last word in my ? was "Help". Arguing is not help.
idono- no our"reassembled" self is instantly changed to a spirit being at the same time the new heaven and earth are being exchanged, no human remains therefore NO reincarnation entering eternity, asking for scripture is not argue is neccesary
IDONO please read these 2 articles http://www.daltonator.net/durandal/religion/satan.shtml and http://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/What- … kness-7261 may Satan bless u
Yes, yes, yes.... his second coming is a baby again.. and then into a man, like the first time... It has to be this way for him to battle the beast, which is an earthly representation of Satan. He also has to really be here in every sense to gather followers who will side with his kingdom... Yes, Yes, Yes.
I've read the entire book of revelation. And after reading it, I must conclude, dud don't worry about it. The entire book is voodoo none sense. And its idea of good and evil is full on ISIS style.
The reason most people who read it, find the book to be confusing, is because, they read it with Christian pre assumption of Yahweh (name of Christian god in pagan faith) to be good and Satan to be evil. and belief Yahweh=salvation and Satan=destruction.
I want u to try something. Read Revelation, with an empty mind, not from a Christian view, nor from an anti Christian view. In fact, u know what? Image u don't know this is a Christian text. Assume, it is the text of an ancient lost religion from over 5000 years ago, that u know nothing about, now translate into English. Read Revelation in that manner and u will see what I am talking about it
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s … velation+1 This is a link to the entire book of revelation, remember, pretend this is the text of an ancient lost religion from over 5000 years ago that u know nothing about and read it in that manner
and because you do not believe, scripture clearly says you CANNOT UNDERSTAND IT SO STOP MISLEADING PEOPLE WITH YOUR CONJECTURE
And this is so interesting to see what sort of response a nut like u would have towards this post I wrote. https://hubpages.com/entertainment/My-i … and-Ishtar
If you move to a country you have never lived in before and then return to where you once lived doesn't mean you have been reincarnated. Jesus journey was done in a converted body, his return will be the same.
Well peter565. Not sure why you called me a nut because I've been taught that nuts think and believe that they have all the answers rather than be open minded enough to ask questions. But, so be it. Personally, I don't know how to empty my mind of anything. If I did, I would never have another problem going to sleep at night. But I do know how to open my mind and relate what I read to my own life experiences. It's no secret that Revelations was either written purely symbolically, or (let's see if you can open your mind) it was written by those with visions in great detail, but did not know what these visions were because they hadn't happened yet and they had no idea what they were seeing. When I was a kid, I couldn't even imagine that someday I would be communicating on Hubpages on a computer, with no wires, and could do so, around the world, instantaneously, with the touch of a keypad. Maybe when he spoke of the machines coming over the hillside, making the noise of a million locust, with the tails of scorpions and the faces of evil, he may have been having premonitions of helicopters in the Vietnam War... but didn't know what any of that was, because it hadn't happened yet. I guess maybe I am a nut, but an open minded nut. But an interesting question created some pretty interesting responses. I'm 63 years old and still don't really know what I believe. Maybe I'm hoping someone tells me I may have another chance to do better. I don't know. I do remember a bumper sticker I saw one time that I will never forget. It said " If you think there is no God, you'd better be right!" If I face God, it will be about what's in my mind and heart. Not someone else or some doctrine that someone else made up. So for now, I'll just be the best I can just in case.

Do you believe or think that Jesus second coming may occure in your life time? This is a question that has puzzled mankind for the last 2000 years. As bad as world events seem to be at this time, are these the signs of endtime approaching or do you believe events have to be far worse than we see...

If you read the scriptures, especially the New testament, reference upon reference mention that in time, one day, God will call His children to Himself. So, is that time near, is Revelations going to take place soon?

As Christians: Those of us that are Christian, We are all aware of the first coming of Jesus as a baby. There is nothing to dispute about this. We are also aware of His crucifixion and resurrection. Here come the mirky part for me. Mary Magdelene goes to Jesus tomb and discovers it empty. She sees...

Actually, Jesus did not prophesy incorrectly, according to my beliefs. People's interpretation of what the second coming is is incorrect. The second coming is the state of Christ consciousness that Jesus was exampling to them. Some of his disciples were able to become Christ minded to a great...

Can a true Christian believe in reincarnation? How do you reconcile "coming back" with heaven& hell?If I call myself a true Christian and live my life by the teachings found in the Bible, how can I also believe in the mystical concept of reincarnation. There is something enticing...
