Why are you an atheist? Is it just because you think some things that are said in the bible are sick and wrong? Is it because you have tried to ask god for help before, and your prayers were unanswered? Is it because of all the suffering in the world? Or is there another reason also?

I believe in god btw. But not in a religious way as such..More in a sense that god is love, inner peace, and the beauty of nature..In a 'spiritual' way..As in, god is everywhere, everything that is truth. Like instincts, and intuition..Hey, maybe truth be told, i'm just a delusional hippie, scarred for life due to too many years of smoking pot..But that's just the way i live my life, and it works for me! And if ya'll think i'm crazy, i don't really care!

I am an Atheist because I see no reason or evidence for the existence of a God. Atheism (unlike new forms of militant Atheism) is first-and-foremost a non-position, which essentially means that you can't give reasons for being one. Do you feel that you need to explain why you don't believe (as Dawkins put it) in the great Juju up the mountain or the flying teapot?

I was born an atheist.  We all were, then society starts brainwashing us.  Until someone can, conclusively, prove otherwise, I have no reason to change my initial perception.

Sure sounds like a totally logical statement..

The real question is why are you a theist? When you know the real answer to that you'll be closer to understanding why many have put away these things.

I am not atheist but i want to clear you that God is not everywhere,. if God is everywhere then why all are going to church, temple, mosque, gurudwara etc. to pray God.

If God is everywhere then everything shoud be good and everything should give us happiness.

We have to understand properly that God is living too from from earth --above from sun --star where no one can reach by this physcial body . We can reach there by doing meditation with mind but not from body.

I believe this question has already been asked on 50 different threads this year!

Why are you regurgitating it again??? hmm

This is very Troll-like behaviour and for all of us who bothered to post on the previous 50 threads... Very Boring! hmm

I didn't realize that. I have personally not seen it before. Probably seeing as i don't spend my every waking minute time-wasting on hubpages forums, as many people do. Not very nice of you to refer to my behavior as 'troll-like'. I'm only asking because i want to know.

Please excuse my ignorance, if you too, believe that my behavior is 'troll-like.' Although i'm not entirely sure what that term means..

Sorry if this offended you... it was not intended that way.
This subject is however one that has in the past been used to wind up others in the hope that they would get banned! (Troll-like behaviour).

Oh okay. No offense taken. It is not my intention to stir anyone's pot..I was just wondering, that is all. smile

It's just that i see atheist people, as being generally negative. To me it seems, that they know not of love, and inner peace. But i'm probably wrong.. A few people that are very close to me, are pro atheist's, and that is the way that they are in general, negative, and have a bit of an attitude problem.

You don't even know the bible apparently, or do you just rip out the parts you don't like?
                Kill Men, Women, and Children

"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked.  Show no mercy; have no pity!  Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children.  But do not touch anyone with the mark.  Begin your task right here at the Temple."  So they began by killing the seventy leaders.  "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded.  "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill!  Go!"  So they went throughout the city and did as they were told."  (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

No, your right. I know little about religion. I have no need to know..It's difficult to place my position on the whole scale of religious things..But i will say that i am not religious.

Saying Atheists don't have inner peace and don't know anything about love is stirring the pot.
                I think you're biased.
You want to get people in an argument.
If you're not happy with yourself, don't bring your sadness here.

One of the reasons I'm an Atheist it's because I don't like religious people like you.

I was an atheist when i was born.
I was brainwashed into a believer by the Jehovahs Witness cult.
I became an atheist once more through the application of my own reason because of the following points.

    1. Claims require evidnence, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. There is no evidence for a god at all.

    2. The problem of theodicy, ie the existance of evil in gods creation disproves a good god.

    3. Which god? Do you believe in Zeus, Thor, Odin? Why not? The reason you do not believe in those gods is the same reason I do not believe in any other possible gods.

Hope this is what you wanted.

I think you are misunderstanding the nature of atheism.

We only acknowledge God as a delusional thought in others, simply because it is pretty plain to us that the god character/s of any religion simply do not exist.

We give religious people the same wide berth that you would give a 30 yer old who still truly believed that Santa came down the chimney once a year with presents.

Most atheists I know are more positive than religious people.  I am very happy with myself, and have none of teh conflicting emotional conflicts which seem to tear a lot of religious people to pieces.

I know a lot of religious people view atheists as negative, anda s having a general attitude problem, but that is usually due to the fact that most atheist think of religion as a fairy tale, how annoyed would you be if your adult friend kept talking about how wonderful the tooth fairy is?

The claims of believers are based on myths and superstitions. That's pretty much it.
