Freedom ~ It Costs Something
What will you do to remain free?
Freedom - it's what everyone desires, yet freedom is not what everyone receives. When we think of what freedom costs, how many of us can say we have earned it or deserve to be free when it has cost us nothing?
In the book Tortured for Christ, these people had dreams, a vision and plans for their future, yet they gave it all up for the sake of the cross.
Just how much freedom are you willing to forgo for your faith? Would you be willing to sacrifice your life for someone else? When a person declares they are a believer in Christ Jesus, they realize He died for their eternal freedom. He died for us, but are we willing to die for Him so that others will come to know Christ?

Depending on Freedom
Scripture Reading: II Chronicles 13:18
America celebrates Independence Day every fourth of July. Independence and freedom are truly wonderful blessings to this land and to the people. Yet we still need to realize how dependent we really are. We need to depend upon the Lord our God, because He is the One who has given us freedom from the woes of this world. Sometimes I think America has forgotten that, and is weak when it comes to their recognizing the freedom that came from Jesus. People all over the world seem to understand that freedom has a cost, when America has forgotten the work of the cross. Let me give you a few examples of what I mean.
There is a man named Damar who had his legs nailed to a board by his owner and was left to die all because a camel escaped when he went to church.
A 14 year old girl in Sudan was tortured because she would not renounce her faith in Christ. Although they mutilated her body, she refused to give up her freedom she had in God.
Four young boys were out looking for food. Islamic soldiers set a field on fire to capture them. Three were abducted, but one was engulfed by flames and was burned from head to toe. He survived because of Christians who looked to Jesus.
These people saw their faith in Christ as the only freedom that really sets them free . No matter what man does to us, they cannot take away our freedom in the Lord. It isn't an outward thing that binds us in chains, but our failure to believe in the Living God that keeps us held captive.
In II Chronicles 13:18 we see that "Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the God of their fathers." Just like the tribe of Judah, we must depend upon our Heavenly Father if we are to prevail in these turbulent times.
Jesus loved us so much that He died to set us free from all our sin. Trust in, rely on, and depend upon God. Our dependence upon Him brings us true independence and freedom.
I am FREE because of Jesus!

The Persecuted Church - Those who are not free to worship
Every month when I receive the Voice of the Martyr's Magazine I am still amazed at the faithfulness of God's children even though they are tortured for their faith in Christ.
Please do what you can and subscribe to this ministry's outreach and help those who have been imprisoned for their Savior in this day and age.
- Voice of the Martyrs
Learn about those nations who are not free to worship the Lord Jesus openly and how they are persecuted each day for their belief. Please pray for and support this global ministry.

Are you in fellowship with God
Pray to Jesus right now by repeating this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and for not believing in You as the One and only true God. I now want to make things right with You. Please come into my heart and save me. Forgive me of all my sins and make me clean.
I do believe that You died on the cross to save me from hell, and that You rose from the dead and are now in Heaven.
With all my heart I will follow you and be obedient to Your Word, and will fellowship with other believers. Thank you for saving me today.
In Your name I pray, Amen.
