In Indian subcontinent, land of oldest civilization of the world, everyone almost everyone knows wordings of Gayatri Mantra. If you visit India especially at any Yajna ceremony, and any temple of Hindu religion you will heard this Mantra chanting at least once. This is known to be the most powerful mantra in Hindu religion, and one of its evidence is found when Lord Krishna in Mahabharata was giving Geeta teachings to Arjuna, he said during his explanation, why he is supreme, the words were "I am in chants of Gayatri mantra ". But how it is so powerful? Is it just a belief or we are close to its real meaning? Respected divine soul, a philosopher, socialist, educationalist, founder of “All World Gayatri Pariwar”, late Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya was spreading this message to the followers of spirituality, his all life. Whatever I learned from his preaching, I will try to explain it to you all. Let us study it.

WHAT ARE THE WORDS

Firstly we will have to pronounce these words in the mantra,

OM BHUR BHUVAH SWAHA TAT SA VI TUR VA RE NI YAM BHAR GO DE VA SYA DHI MA HE DHI YO YO NAHA PRA CHO DA YAT.

DECODED MEANING

OM- It is first sound produced by supreme creator. And whole cosmos is being addressed by it. In other word lord inside us is addressing.

BHUR- It says and conveys the message that body is just a machine; don’t fully rely upon it, as machine also needs fuel, our body in same way needs self confidence, good works, and choose better way of living.

BHUVA- It means person who is against sins is acceptor of divine element, one who follows pure principles and means of life is mature.

SWAHA- One should always motivate others and himself to use his pure and divine mind set to take decisions and be self controlled and abide the principle of sacrifice.

TAT- Life Science, one who is aware of this concept becomes fearless, he never want any attractions to be gained, and is always in same situation as when he has everything or nothing.

SAVITUR- Saving power and energy, power may be physical and mental too, kit should not be wasted, but should be acquire. One who is conscious about usage and gathering of power is always protected from attacks of natural phenomenon, cruel, tyrants and misfortune as well. One who doesn’t knows the balance of power, is walking toward life’s wrong path.

VARENIYAM- Excellence is not analysed by situations it is in the nature of an individual and his principles. One who is having every means of living, rich, attractive lifestyle is if not pure by mindset and is not having morality and ethics of life is always be a poor.

BHARGO- Purity, beauty is purity. Everything that is loved by all human, animals, birds, insects etc, is beautiful. Contaminated places are always ugly no one love it. If in body there is garbage, waste product collected for a long time it makes person sick, ill, weak, and workless. Body should have pure food; mind should have pure thoughts, so that nature loves it.

DEVASYA- Divine vision, yes it conveys the message of visualising everything of the planet to be connected with you in a divine manner.

DHIMAHI- Allow morality to fall in you always, living is so easy if ethics are being involved in our routine. Speaking truth, being fearless, honesty, softness, courage, self confidence, helping etc are essence of all the skills of our body to make it perform better many times than their absence.

DHIYO –Intelligence, wit, a mind in better principles, and always active to do right things brings a result of satisfaction.

YONAHA- Self control of senses, it is most important in a person’s life. This makes a person a body strong and teaches the methods of true satisfaction. It is really helpful in the absence of resources.

PRACHODAYAT- Helping, caring, sharing is most valuable thing to do, feeding hungry, giving water to tired, motivating people, correcting people, making better opportunities for one who are helpless, powerless should be practised.

PROCESSING

When someone chants a Sanskrit mantra especially Gayatri mantra every vocal part of body works in a rhythm. This rhythm produces vibration in different parts and all glands in a body to activate them and respond in an effective manner. Yes, you will feel these vibrations in all your body. As we have discussed before meaning of all words, every word is effective on different parts of our body.

DIFFERENT BODY PARTS REACTS ON EACH WORD

OM BHUR BHUVAH- It starts from the brain to flow it in whole body.

TAT- Forehead

SA- left eye

VI- right eye

TUR- left ear

VA- right ear

RE- nose

NYAM- lips

BHA-throat

RGO-neck

DE-right chest

VA-left chest

SYA- heart

DHI-right rib cage

MA- left rib cage

HI- stomach

DHI- testosterone

YO- left shoulder

YO- right shoulder

NAHA-right arm

PRA- left arm

CHO- left wrist

DA-right wrist

YA- right palm

T- Left palm

When every part at a definite interval reacts on hymn of each word, it allows different glands to activate, with all the emotions, confidence, strength, success, followings, yoga, courage, love, control, hard work, production, ethics, bravery, wit, hospitality.

It is said that, if everyday someone chants this hymn not other religious thing is required to be practised. I am not saying that you shouldn’t practice your belief but when all religious qualities are found in single mantra.

Ohh, look who beat me to this article: Mr. Manatita. Haha!! Not a coincidence at all that I just finished answering a comment to him and now, I find him here again.

Indeed, like Mr. Manatita wrote, this is a "powerful" mantra! I love it and I chant it often: driving, in the shower, walking ... I just chant it and feel great when I do.

Thank You for writing this piece. The world would work so much more smoother if everyone chanted this. Just my opinion.

Thanks again, best of luck and stay safe in these tricky times. Cheers and welcome to Hub-pages!
