grasping eternity

Updated on March 22, 2016

A Thought

So lets get started. What does eternity mean to you? For me, its hard to even grasp the thought. We all know that the earth has been here for a very long time. But it doesn't even come close to an eternity in age. what about the stars? sure they're much older than the earth but they still aren't close. and galaxies are pretty old but not quite. and the universe? that still doesn't cut it. so it got me to thinking about it long and hard. its mind blowing if you sit there and think about eternity. its easier to grasp it if your thinking about everything going on in the future for an eternity. But think about it the other way. How something has always been here. think about it long and hard. an eternity of time has come to pass for you to be at this point now. so how can that be if it was an eternity of time that has passed, because isn't an eternity never ending? So it made me think even more.

If an eternity of time has passed and an eternity of time is still to come, is it some sort of cycle that it goes through? is there a never ending loop that everything that has ever been and will ever be goes through? and even if it is a cycle; what then created that cycle? its so mind blowing to think about that I haven't really been able to wrap my head around it.

So to all of you who like to think about things like this and want to share any of the possibilities that you think could be an explanation; please feel free to leave a comment and share what you feel would describe how eternity is possible. also feel free at any time to add on something you feel like i'm forgetting.

Thank you for reading and have fun trying to grasp what other people think impossible.

Excellent hub. I enjoyed reding this. Thank you. Eternity, trillions of stars, different galaxies.... all a bit beyond me. Yet I love a starry night to look up at and wonder.
