Beautiful Women Aging Gracefully

Updated on April 18, 2014

Beautiful Older Women Galleries Reinvented

Let me start off by saying that ALL women are beautiful.. I truly believe that. We age but we are as beautiful as the day we were born as we breathe and live and feel. As an older woman now I must start out by saying, it's tough getting older. Turn back the clock and give me another chance to do better, be smarter, handle the bumps in life in a more graceful way. Pausing though, reflecting on who I am now and who I hoped to be, I am me in the end and this really is my time.. right now, today. Beautiful older women galleries, mature women painting what has always been in their heart. Women finding new ways of expressing themselves, new interests that form fresh pathways of self fulfillment. Finding that person sometimes feels so hard.

How do I persuade myself that I am not a song without words, music without lyrics, nothing left to say, just because I am getting older?

How do I convince myself that there is still time to dance?

There is a struggle that goes on inside any woman (or man I am sure) as she approaches an age that is considered by her or society, to be older. That particular age can change from decade to decade.

Today many say that 60 is the new 40. I wonder.

When I turned twenty five I remember thinking that it was completely over for me. I cried and cried. Ahh me all too funny now. Iwish I was twenty five now, gads huh?! Now that I am a mature woman I try to understand how I can age with grace.

Sometimes I look at women, younger and prettier than me and it seems that everything has shifted and left me out of the scenario of living life. Talk about beautiful older women galleries, we all line up and remember those days I am sure.

Products are designed to appeal to youth unless they are specifically geared toward the aged, like special wheelchairs or meds or reverse mortgages, stuff like that. With all of this around me I know it is all the more important to 'feel' and understand my reason for being. I am not a hot flash, I am a woman having a hot flash. I may feel that I am no longer sexy but I must remind myself that sexy is an attitude. It is all about looking 'outside' of oneself, feeling energized by living and acting on that passion. Oh and there is soo much to see that I missed in youth.

As women get older they need to connect to their spiritual side more and I think they do. I find that I am able to look outside myself more and not worry as much about other women in the room. Who is the fairest of all and who shines the brightest. It is a time that holds visions and introspection and a time that should be embraced.

So go out as a mature woman, find those beautiful older women galleries, create your own lyrics to music that lost them. Shine!

Learning to Love Yourself

The Greatest Love of All

I Will Always Love YOU

LYRICS The Greatest Love of All

"Greatest Love Of All"

I believe that children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody's searching for a hero

People need someone to look up to

I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs

A lonely place to be

So I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows

If I fail, if I succeed

At least I'll live as I believe

No matter what they take from me

They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all

Is happening to me

I found the greatest love of all

Inside of me

The greatest love of all

Is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself

It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way

Show them all the beauty they possess inside

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier

Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

And if, by chance, that special place

That you've been dreaming of

Leads you to a lonely place

Find your strength in love

Love Yourself

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection. ~Buddha

Loving YOU is that OK?

Is it OK to love YOU?

YOU are so much more unique than this leaf below.

Pick a leaf, study it, then put it in your pocket to remind you that YOU are special and unique. Notice the leaf above. It is not "perfect", it has some brown spots and maybe it is not perfectly formed.. DISCOVER THE BEAUTY in that.

Bombshell: Explosive Medical Secrets That Will Redefine Aging
Bombshell: Explosive Medical Secrets That Will Redefine Aging

You really have to hand it to this woman, she has gone from dumb blond bombshell Chrissy Snow on Three's Company and Carol Lambert on Step by Step to an all out health guru. She reinvented herself. Suzanne Somers knows her stuff too. Her books are well respected by most of the health industry. I say most as there will always be doubters in every last thing.

I own this book and several others of Ms Somers and they do not disappoint, she really does know her stuff.

Somers, whose hormone regimen involves creams, injections and some 60 supplements daily, got a huge boost earlier this year from Oprah Winfrey. "Many people write Suzanne off as a quackadoo," Winfrey said when Somers appeared on her show. "But she just might be a pioneer."

The FDA is doing battle with vitamin companies and vitamins in general.... believe it. Suzanne Somers is connected with Life Extension, a highly respected vitamin company who yes, pioneers the usefulness of vitamins and well being for long life. Why would the FDA do battle with vitamins I can hear you wonder and doubt... it is all about MONEY and pharmaceutical companies. Yet this of course is a whole other lens, which maybe at some point I may write.

In the meantime?

Do you compare youself with others?

"Magic Mirror on the Wall, who is the Fairest one of all?" There is nothing wrong with trying to be the best YOU that you can be, but BE UNIQUE.. YOU are WONDERFUL! just as you are. BE YOU!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall ~A Babies Perspective

Do you SEE this baby looking at herself? Would you for one single second tell her that she is NOT special? Of course not. Do that much for YOU.. OK? Take a long look into that WONDERFUL face and see your own soul. YOU ROCK!!

Who am I? I am an artist and an 'older' woman. See below...

Artist Statement:

I began my career at four years old, in the back seat of my parents car, as they traveled the countryside. I have been exhilarated and tormented by art ever since. I wake up in the morning and go to bed at night thinking about it.

I paint and sculpt women primarily; in their daily lives; in lives they might be afraid of; and in lives they wish they had. My goal has always remained the same, to hear them breathing and to know the passion I feel in my soul is met by theirs.

So I sing:

Hold me close dear angel

Muster up a little tune

and rock me like a serpent

that rises to the moon.

In every single one of my paintings my objective is to know them. To let each one reveal their own vision or message. I am often astounded as their presence unfolds and I am met with who they are. I then realize that who 'they' are defines me as well. My hope is that my paintings & sculptures relate to you, their audience, and that they give you the message you need for your own heart and soul.

I worry just like every other woman or man about aging.. I worry about my place here and how to grow older gracefully. I am not going to disappear just because I am not in my 20's or 30's or 40's.. wow. Yes, that is the way it has felt at times. Strange.

Mental notes of understanding who we are under the veil of who we hoped we would be as women or who we think we lost, are embraced by me within the cloak of all women.

Exploring that sexual side; embracing my own desires and trying to not just understand them but find out what they are! So many feeling for various reasons are pushed down and made incidental because society has claimed they should feel uncomfortable.

Finding any sense of rawness seems crazy past 40 or 50. But why? That is what I think I am finally concluding. As a lot of women get older they tend to feel themselves disappear. I am one. I see though through this whole series that I am working on, digging inside myself to find that essence of sexiness that is woman; hearing tiny cries from those emotions hid from my own self and letting them see the light of day, is luscious! Its not about being defined by others as being sexy, letting others decide my fate in how I feel about myself.. its about ME accepting who I really am and having the confidence to bring it all out on canvas. To not only see it but embrace and shine in it.

I want to reach deeper and find all the things about my own sexuality that have always been mine to know. I want to understand the passion I long to paint and comprehend what those emotions are.

Passion has a sense of violence about it, it is strong and it survives aggression. I don't want to paint passive art.. I want feel the obsession of lust inside its raw and primal pursuit. Within passion one finds a boldness full of enticing ambitions to grasp on to, that piece of your heart that presses you to go past the mark of a bystander, that spot you may have been told to stay put on. I will not stand on the X marked on the floor, not anymore.

It is not possible to feel apathetic when standing next to passion. I don't paint landscapes to hang above someone's couch, paintings meant to be a resting place for the mind? I want to paint feelings that one cannot dismiss. I hope to stir up feelings that overwhelm hidden agendas within the viewer as well as myself. It is not my goal to feel nothing but a sunny day or peacefulness, shiny trinkets that rest on walls that can be walked away from. I want to paint women who feel something. I paint myself as I define it and revel in the fact that I am made whole by my own journey of introspection.

I want to paint strength, sexuality, pain, power, a force of intensity, emotional qualities that generate a reaction. I don't want to paint the sky, I want to paint the dominance of the wind that caused it to be felt on ones skin, in the form of a woman. I pick up my brush or clay between my fingers and consider a certain belligerence, an attitude of confidence that meets the power I need to form an energy outside myself and I welcome it in. I paint or sculpt until I hear them breathing and their breath becomes my own.

I paint myself as I try to define the energy that is indeed my own sexuality but also all women whether they accept that part of themselves or not.

Aging gracefully is a beautiful frame of mind. I'm not one bit concerned about what society thinks is youthful. If you feel it, and do everything in your power to look well and live well...then you'll be happy and you will love yourself. Excellent lens!

Very nice one here. I'm one of the women who would rather not look in the mirror these days, because my image of me in my mind is prettier than the one in the mirror.

This is a magnificent lens! I was going to say that I hoped any woman struggling with the issues of growing older would read it, but then I realized that all women, older and younger alike could profit from its wisdom. And thanks for sharing examples of your mesmerizing art.
