Harsh Questions I Will Definitely Like to Ask God

Updated on June 5, 2015

So I was in this trance and guess who I saw? It was God himself. No, actually I didn’t see him. Don't forget that no one has ever seen him. It's just that I just felt his presence. No, well, actually I didn’t feel his presence. I just imagined I was feeling his presence.

So in my imagination, I started having these thoughts. I felt like I just have to use this very once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to talk to God and ask him some of the questions that have bedeviled me for a very long time.

So I started.

And these are the things I asked God.

Why man?

Why did you create man? Why did you elevate man so much above every other living thing? What is so special about man that made you to choose to make him so unique and gave him the ability to control every other being in the world?

Where are you?

I know I’m feeling like I’m in your presence right now… but so do so many other people all over the world. So where exactly are you? Are you living right in our respective hearts or are you occupying every space around us which makes you quite omnipresent?

Why prayers?

I'm a little bit confused about this but yes, why prayers? You know everything about us even the thoughts we have in our minds so of what use is our prayers to you? Can you do without our prayers?

Are you evil?

Yes, are you? I’m asking this because I see so many evils these days. It’s not a question of seeing what I’m intend to see. No, there is evil and it’s in so many places. Injustice. Child abuse. Terrorism. Human trafficking, etc…

These evils pervade our society because of man’s inhumanity to fellow man and to some extent it seems it reflects an inherent evil in man.

So that’s why I’m asking this because I read somewhere that you made man in your own image.

Why Satan?

Why is Satan still very much around? What will it take to send him to the pits of hell? Oh, I forgot, he’s already there but yet his evil influence is still so much felt everyday.

But why is Satan misleading your people and you are allowing it to happen? Can’t something be done about this bad guy once and for all?

Oh wait…

Are you in any form of competition with Satan or is Satan just existing to highlight your own significance?

I’m confused. Really.

Why hell?

And speaking about Satan throws up this question too. God, please, what exactly is the purpose of hell? Is it really your intention to make some people suffer? Or is going to hell one of those things that people bring upon themselves?

Why free will?

Which brings us to this. Why give man free will and then still expect him to live up to your standards? In fact, why give man free will at all in the first place knowing full well that man with his inquisitive and unpredictable nature is so capable of doing all sorts of things—awesome and gruesome, inclusive?!

Why death?

Why death? Why do people die? Is death just a natural process and does it serve any significance towards another goal in your plans for man? If so, what could those plans be? Can you give me a tip, please…?

Why creation?

And talking about death brings me to this very point. God, why creation? Why life? Where does life come from? What’s exactly the purpose of life? In other words, why did you create us in the first place?

Some say we are on a journey here on earth and it's for a purpose. If true, what is that very purpose for this very journey? Some others say that we actually chose to be on this journey. Again, if true, who told us to choose? Was it you? Or did our free will cover that part too…?

I need some answers.

And…

Still on creation, I've been wondering about this very thing. God, how did everything really come about? I really want to know. You see, looking from the outside, life and nature itself as a whole looks like a very simple process but on a closer examination, any critical observer will easily see that life is indeed a great, complex and very intelligent design with a structured order suggesting that something really great is going on on the inside.

Which is why I really want to know what is really really going on.

      Getitrite,

"Religion is nothing more than an acquired mental condition via indoctrination."

What you are saying is that the spiritual experiences of 10s of billions of people throughout history and today are just things they made up in their minds. Seriously? What is your evidence for this? How narrow-minded, exclusive, and arrogant are you to just write off people's religious experiences as something they just made up. That's one thing if you had some evidence but you don't. Like all of your comments, this is an unsubstantiated accusation.

"until one day any person professing a belief in imaginary gods will be laughed at."

So now you are a prophet? LOL! Christianity has ALWAYS been under attack yet continues to spread.

"Christianity has not spread because of any TRUTHS! That statement shows rigid indoctrination, and abject willful ignorance. Christianity spread because of war, torture murder, slavery, genocide, etc. Christians and Muslims just happened to be the most adept at these things. The bible is a book of immense nonsense, it explains nothing!"

Sigh...more unsubstantiated allegations. There are billions of Christians around the world and 99% of them are/have been living peaceful lives. (Are you sure you aren't from Mars? The moon perhaps?) On the flip side, consider this: atheists like Joseph Stalin have killed 100s of millions of people and atheism is has a hard time gaining traction!

"Yes, even those "great thinkers" you are trying to position to bolster your weak case, are too fearful to think for themselves...if they believe the uneducated superstitious fraud of primitive ignorant authors. Blind obedience is not THINKING."

(This one made me almost laugh out loud) So you obviously think you are smarter than Albert Einstein, Francis Bacon, Dr. Ben Carson, and the list goes on for miles.....If you are really that arrogant and unwilling to look at evidence, I cannot help you.

There is more hope for fools than for people who think they are wise. (Proverbs 26:12)

Like all atheists, you are not making arguments or giving evidence, you are just spewing hate speech. You are not thinking for yourself either...you are just regurgitating the same old tired arguments everyone can see on atheist blogs. Keep up the show!

      Answers to your questions:

God created man in His own image to have fellowship with Him. God is a personal God, and I guess He wanted some company after a while. He created the angels to serve Him, but He wanted a new creation.

Prayers are our way of communicating with God. We don't have to always ask for things. We can praise God, or just talk to him.

God Himself is not evil, but He permitted evil to enter the universe. As for Satan, he was not created to be the adversary. God gave all beings free will, so in order to give a being the ability to choose to do good, it had to have the ability to choose evil as well. Without evil, we couldn't possible come to know God. We would soon turn away from Him. We would do what we wanted, and we wouldn't value many positive traits like forgiveness, mercy, compassion. We wouldn't need Jesus. We wouldn't see God's willingness to know us. If God hadn't personified Himself in Jesus, and suffered as a human, we wouldn't connect with Him. Without choosing between good and evil, would we have a meaningful relationship with God, or any other person? Meaningful choices must exist for love to exist.

God also allowed Satan and his demons to do evil, so He could bring about good. Everything happens for God's greater glory. He allowed Adam and Eve to fall from grace, and for Satan to tempt them, so that He could ultimately destroy the works of evil by unraveling a master plan--Jesus.

People die because sin entered the world. Sin corrupted the entire world and this affected all animals and plants, and humans. Sin is fatal, the wages of sin are death. When we die, another journey begins, we cease to be finite creatures and become immortal. If we die accepting Christ's death for our sins, our sins are wiped away. If we reject, we have to account for our sins ourselves.

God originally created hell for Satan and his angels, for God cannot abide sin at all. He is a merciful, loving God, but He is also a just God, who must punish sin.

I could write more, but I have many hubs on the subjects you mentioned here, and you should come over and read them for information. I hope I at least helped somewhat in answering your questions.

      Asa,

I'm not fighting any Gods. Good try though. If you want to be delusional and think that ignorant holy books can point you to a god, then be my guest. But just make sure to keep that nonsense to yourself. When you bring this nonsense out into the public is when I'm going to criticize it. Religion is nothing more than an acquired mental condition via indoctrination. It is this acquired mental condition that I am attacking. The mental condition is REAL, and you don't have carte blanche anymore. Sorry. Your beliefs are now under serious attack, and its going to get worse...until one day any person professing a belief in imaginary gods will be laughed at.

Christianity has not spread because of any TRUTHS! That statement shows rigid indoctrination, and abject willful ignorance. Christianity spread because of war, torture murder, slavery, genocide, etc. Christians and Muslims just happened to be the most adept at these things. Yes, even those "great thinkers" you are trying to position to bolster your weak case, are too fearful to think for themselves...if they believe the uneducated superstitious fraud of primitive ignorant authors. Blind obedience is not THINKING.

Getitrite, if you know we will never meet God, why do you spend so much time on Hubpages arguing against His existence. You sure are spending a lot of time fighting something that does not exist.....Lol.

The Bible provides everything in the form of an explanation. That is probably why Christianity has spread more around the world in the past 100 years than at any time in history.

"Too fearful to think for themselves?" Lol. Some of the greatest thinkers and scientists in the world are/were Bible-believeing Christians.

Emmy, of course you know that you will never meet a God, who can answer any of those questions that you mentioned...because all of those assertions were made by ancient humans, pretending to be communicating with a God that they made in their own image.

The bible provides nothing in the form of an explanation, and is only considered a magical elixir for those who are too fearful to think for themselves.

The answers to all of these questions lies in the Bible, I believe. A Biblical worldview makes sense of everything we see around us.

Also, I don't know about you but if you "google" pictures of our planets and stars I get a dumbfounding idea of how vast and great God is. I don't think we will be demanding answers when we stand before Him. We will probably fall down in awe. Though in His love, He will make all things clear to us.
