Sample Emmaus Letters for Pilgrims

Updated on May 12, 2011

PLEASE...These are intended for people who have never written a letter to someone attending an Emmaus or Chrysalis weekend. They are not meant to be copied, but to give you an idea of how to get started. The best letter you can write comes from your heart, NOT the internet!

Introduction to Emmaus - For those who haven't been.

Links to a video, and the official website, so you can see what it's all about!

Sample letter from someone who has already walked on Emmaus or Flown Chrysalis

Dear ______,

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend with a wonderful group of Men who are filled with the love of Christ. Isn't it cool how so many people have given so much time and energy just to help you feel the love of Jesus? By the time you read this it will be almost over and you will have many memories and events to process. One of the things they say is "It keeps getting better" and I think they are right. My weekend has helped me be more confident in my self and the love of Jesus.

*****Insert something personal here.*****

*****Personal Closing here.***** This walk happens in Gods time and nobody can change it. Enjoy your 4th day it will be with you for the rest of your life.

*****Your Name*****

What kind of stuff/topics of discussion should be on the letter? What is the purpose of the letter, I feel like my English teacher just told my to write an essay and didn't say anything else about the assignment. Why am i writing it, why how does this help them with whatever they do during this weekend?

I found this both frustrating and annoying, why say sample letters if you are not boing to provide any. Don't say "just write from the heart" or "there is no right or wrong" - give some examples You provide sample letters for the individuals asking others to write letters; but no samples for the family and friends being ask to write the letters. A few anonymous letters might give us a clue how to start or what to say. I love my grandchildren but I have no idea how to write these letters.

The letters should be personal notes of encouragement. Read Luke 24 specifically verses 13 -35. Imagine that experience then document how you would like to encourage the person walking.

      Just write from your heart

And if youve experienced the Emmaus ecperience I'm sure it will be easier to jot down the experience.

There is no right or wrong when writing a letter to a pilgrim. It is to be positive and love filled. Write from your heart. It doesn't have to be long or serious and could be a card and not a letter just congratulating them on attending the "call" of God by attending this special weekend. It is about what this person means to you, maybe a memory/event/private joke just shared by the two of you. No one else will be reading this letter. They will be Blessed just knowing you cared enough to take the time to send a note/card/letter.

I agree with above folks. I have not been on the walk and am not sure what to write but want to be a blessing to receiver. A sample would be most helpful. Don't advertise sample if you are not going to provide.

I agree with Vicki, there are no sample letters here. It might behoove you to include some for future use, or remove the tag. Very misleading.

I was told since I've not written a letter to an Emmaus participant before that I could come to this web page for information and samples....I've not been able to find that to be correct. It would be most helpful if sample were available.

Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
