Only one truth, why so many faith's?
What did jesus and his followers teach?
Have you ever wondered why there are so many religions? there is one bible, one god, one faith and one christ, yet there are so many different beliefs. let us turn to the bible for its answers.
In the begining there was only adam and eve, god spoke directly to them, there was only one religion, obediance to god.
16 And God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. 17 But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
Now something happened that changed that
6 Consequently the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something to be longed for to the eyes, yes, the tree was desirable to look upon. So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it.
This caused a division , those who choose to obey god and those who do not.
Genesis 3:15 ,
15 And I shall put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel.”
After this time many false religions began, many religions today claim to worship god and preach jesus, does it matter which one we choose? Do they all lead to the same god?
21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness.
First of all, all the christian religions do not agree, they each teach different doctrines. the belief that unites most of them is the triniy, but even on this doctrine they have differences. is that what one would expect if they worship the same god?
10 Now I exhort YOU, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that YOU should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among YOU, but that YOU may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, 20 idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, 21 envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.
John 17:20-21 ,
20 “I make request, not concerning these only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word; 21 in order that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth.
god was always very specific in his commands, we can see this with the nation of isreal, if you were not a member of that nation you were not worshipping the true god. Also in jesus time, there was unity among the apostles and the deciples, one teaching.
2 john 9-11 refers to the teachings of christ
9 Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.
The congrgations were organized :
Corinthians 14:33 (King James Version)
33For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Hebrews 13:7 (King James Version)
7Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Acts 15:5-6 (King James Version)
5But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
6And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
Acts 15:19-20 (King James Version)
19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Acts 16:4 (King James Version)
4And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
1 Timothy 3:1 (King James Version)
1This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
(other translations read overseer.)
Philippians 1:1 (King James Version)
1Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
But what about today? let us hear the words of jesus's apostle john at...
1 john 4:1 ,
1 Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
1 john 5:3
For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments;
i said earlier that there are two groups of people, those who obey god and those who do not, compare these scriptures to the churches claiming to love god. how do they compare?
john 13: 34-35
, 34 I am giving YOU a new commandment, that YOU love one another; just as I have loved YOU, that YOU also love one another. 35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”
most christian religions do not obey this commandment, they have fought and killed one another in war. what is more their churches and clergy have supported the slaughter!
Matthew 15: 8-9
what are christians supposed to do today? are they not supposed to be christs footstep follows? what did jesus teach?
jesus pointed to gods kingdom as the future hope of mankind.
Luke 4:43 , 43 But he said to them: “Also to other cities I must declare the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this I was sent forth.”
3 “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.
21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.
14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
Notice some of the benifits of that kingdom.
With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
the good news of gods kingdom is to be preached in our day , are all the churches doing this? are they in agreement?
notice pauls words for our day.
2 timothy 4:2-4
2 preach the word, be at it urgently in favorable season, in troublesome season, reprove, reprimand, exhort, with all long-suffering and [art of] teaching. 3 For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.
three identifiers have been identified:
1. true worshippers will be united in their worship and doctrine world wide. they will obey the commands of god thru his son jesus. also, they will bear witness to the truth.
2. true worshippers will love others and have love amongst themselves. this means they will not participate in war for fear of killing their christian brother.
3. true worshippers will preach to others wherever they can about gods kingdom and what it will do for mankind.
look for the church or religion who are doing this, and you may find the one that is right!
