Sowing the Word Pt.4

Updated on January 17, 2011

Parable of the sower

We have seen the Lord Jesus in the parable of the sower as he gives four expressions of spiritual involvement of the seed which is the symbolic word of God.

The seed falls or is sown on the varying “hearts” of men mentioned as, the ground. The first of which was by the “pathway” which I have termed “Roadside Christianity”. The next was “stony ground” and then “seed sown among thorns” and finally, seed sown on “good ground”. Matthew 13:23 reads,

"But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty".

What is good ground?

Good is from the Greek word kalos and means beautiful, valuable or virtuous.

Most people are able to look at the physical nature of the soil and declare that it is good for planting from its mineral content but only God can declare a ground to be good after man has made the determination that the ground is not cultivatable.

Only God can miraculously heal the sandy or clay soil and declare it good for farming so that the farmer will receive a bountiful harvest.

God doesn't regard the type of soil whether it is sandy, humus or claylike  but what he desires is that you rely and trust in his word. If God says "it is good" then regardless of your educational experience with the soil, it is good.

For instance, when Isaac would have gone down to Egypt because of famine in the land, God forbid him but commanded him to stay and sow in the land. We will not go into what Isaac may have been thinking but he obeyed God and sowed seed in what man had determined to be scorched, invaluable and worthless land.

But because he was obedient to the word of God and trusted God, Moses said in Genesis 26 that Isaac "received in that same year an hundred fold and the Lord blessed him".

So then, it is the word of the Lord that is good and the word of the Lord is intentional. When we align our intentions with the intentions of God then we are declared to be prosperous.

Jesus said to the man that called him "good master”, Why callest me good, there is none good but God.

Therefore the soil is good, not because of man's determination but because of the word of the Lord who is good.

In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.

Moses said that the Holy Spirit moved upon the face of the deep and began to rearrange some things. That which was formless began to take shape and that which was dark and empty became full of light.

God the Father had given the Holy Spirit free course to accomplish His divine will. In other words, the Holy Spirit shed light on our system.

The Holy Spirit did all the “electrical work” and then turn on the light switch, and the Father said, “That is good!

The first Adam gave the title deed away.

The earth contained good ground until sin entered and it became cursed.

But thanks be to God for the second Adam. Glory to God friend, the blood of Jesus brought the needed change.

Creation is a symbol of the New Birth

What was going on here in creation would be symbolic of the new birth were a good God brought reconciliation to his people which people he intend for them to follow his example. And as he spoke life into existence so he intends for his people to speak those things which be not as though they were.

The new birth is similar to moving into a new house with no furniture just the bare necessities; kitchen, refrigerator and stove but the authority to go out and purchase the compliment of your house.

But God would not have you to use tangible money but faith as the means of exchange, to speak into your present and your tomorrow.

You see, when God was creating the earth he spoke from day to day so that the earth would be filled with the things necessary for man or for the earth to get some more “furnishings”.

And then God got to the 3rd day and He spoke.

Some of us will speak but unless we speak with the heart of God, an understanding heart, nothing will happen. And that’s just about where most of the believers are right now.And so the apostle Paul would pray that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened that we may know the hope for which we are called.

You see when God spoke and the light came on in the beginning;

a) He spoke to your understanding

b) He spoke to your perception

c) He spoke to your clarity, your ability to focus

d) He spoke to your involvement, 1John3:2, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not appear what we shall be, but we know that when we see him we shall be like him, for we see as he his”. God says, I am doing this because I the Lord wants to be involved with you

We go to Genesis 1:11 which says, And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

God was speaking to the business of the earth and He made sure that there would always be a way for the “business of the earth to reproduce” so the earth would never be barren.

God gave the term “seed” for the accounting of the earth’s produce.

As inhabitants of the earth (USA) give an account to the IRS, likewise the earth gives an account to God.

The bible implies that the seed was God’s fail safe of getting constancy in the business of the ground.

As long as the earth remains there would always be a return.

Every thing in Gods creation or that God created (bara) has to give an account.

For God is saying that I the Lord your God have located you in good ground and is expecting a return.

One day, Jesus was passing by a fig tree and there was no fig. The fig tree was out of season because it thought it did not have to do like the other fig trees. It didn’t have to follow God’s seasonal schedule and so when other fig trees was busy about the business of God it was down town dong some window shopping.

Like Cain, the fig tree wanted to do its own thing. Jesus saw the fig tree as being disobedient and rebellious.

The fig tree was cursed because it was not accountable and the soil which heard the words that came out of the Lord's mouth and immediately refused to send nutrients.

Listen, when there is a "cursed tree" standing in the forest the other "trees" will do their best to avoid it.

The fig tree was on good soil but had a rebellious nature.

Next day Jesus and his disciples pass by and the disciples marveled because the fig tree was dried up all the way from the root.

Fig trees often stood for Israel in the Old Testament. Jesus was showing what would happen to the nation if it did not repent.

Matt. 21:15-22

Principle: Faith and obedience is needed to plant in good ground.

All of God’s Creation is Accountable Rom.8:19-23

Man is accountable for the good ground in which he as been placed.

It says in Romans 8,

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Groaneth is the Greek word sustenazo/ to groan together.

Why does creation groans?

I will you why, it is waiting for the sons of God to speak them into their new day.

They cannot get into their new day until we take dominion over our present day.

Creation is saying, why don’t you understand that God has blessed you with good ground?

You see your pass and your future are in contention about your tomorrow and that contention will keep you in your present day.

The enemy has deceived us into favoring our pass over our tomorrow.

We have yet to speak those things that be not as though they were.

We have to arrest our morning and say,

“Let there be an effectual door opened for the Gospel in Chicago”

"Let the Spirit of boldness be in your ministers so that they can boldly proclaim the gospel"

Notice that God did not command any thing for Himself but what He spoke was for the good of all.

I have read the Pauline letters and never have I heard Paul saying; "Lord give me a new house, a new donkey, new business ideas".

Maybe the reason our prayers have not been answered is because we are asking for the wrong things and not for things that would be a blessing to many.

What was on Paul’s heart?

Paul’s heart determined the produce of his soil.

He sowed into good ground,

a) He feared God

b) He delighted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ

c) He expected God to blessed his seed so that he had much return

d) He presented an attitude of Godly prosperity in the house of God; revelation, healing, boldness

e) Paul was full of compassion and righteous

f) Paul was not afraid of evil tidings

g) He was a giver

Isaac Planted according to the word of the Lord Gen.26 in good ground.

God determines the wait before harvest

God determines the ground

God gives the seed

God gives the increase
