Make this confession as you sing. - Lord I give you my heart.

Worship Him before going into the scriptures as Michael W. Smith sings "This Is My Desire."

This is my Desire.

To worship You Lord!

Is Our Desire His Desire?

Part of my assignment from the Lord is to teach people to get the most out of their worship and time with the Lord in fellowship or study. That is what I've been doing for over 3 decades.

The Lord has order to everything He does, and expects us to come before Him in a certain way. The Psalmist teaches us that we are to come before Him in singing. Singing songs of adoration, praise or worship causes the Holy Spirit to enter into the situation, allowing us to hear more clearly from the Lord. It is my desire that you will learn how to do this each and every time you enter into the presence of the Lord.

There is a *song that Australian worship leader Darlene Zschech wrote that touches my heart every time I sing it. It draws me closer to the Lord in renewing my relationship with Him. Knowing that every breath we take is a gift from our Heavenly Father and total surrender to God brings a peace that cannot be described, is worth seeking God's will for our lives.

"This is my desire, to honor You, Lord with all my heart. I worship You."

Part of our problem with following the flesh is that it often compromises the work of the Lord in our life. We want to have God's blessings, but we don't always honor God in our life.

How can we honestly say we have given our life to the Lord, when we don't even do the basics in prayer by entering into His presence with songs of praise and thanksgiving like we are told to do? Take a look at what Psalm 100 in the New Living Translation has to say about God's desire versus ours when it comes to surrendering to the will of the Lord.

1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before Him, singing with joy.
3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are His. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
5 For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.

Keeping Nothing Back

"All I have within me. I give You praise. All that I adore is in You. Lord I give You my heart, I give You my soul."

If we are to give God our entire life, that means that we have to live our whole life for Him holding nothing back. I don't mean that you can't make any mistakes, but that each day we have to purpose in our heart to do what He would have us do for that day and time period.

To give our heart and soul is to give our thinking and ways we do things over to the Lord, as well as becoming a Christian. A true believer has an inward desire to please God. It isn't a sacrifice to turn our lives over to Jesus, but a blessing. Our desire is to worship and please a Savior that loved us so much that He gave His life for us to be free from earthly bondage, sin and the law connected to death.

I Live for You Alone - Really?

Here is another thing that we have problems with, surrendering our lives to God. How can we possibly be happy if we don’t do anything we want, but are always doing what others want?  Doesn’t this go against what we’ve been taught?  Sounds confusing doesn’t it?

When we truly surrender our lives and desires to the Lord, all confusion disappears.  His desire is ours, so there is no battle of wills.  I can honestly say that it took years to understand that when I live my life for Christ, I am the happiest, because I don’t have to struggle with what may be the right thing to do.

Since Christ is the only one who ever loved me enough to give His life for me, I can trust that His decisions are always going to be something that is good.

When I live for myself, someone is always left out, hurt or disappointed.  I can’t please everyone so I end up feeling guilty and a failure.  Learning to live for God means you only have to please Him, and when you do, you end up pleasing more people than you could ever have done on your own.

This is the hard part - "Lord, have Your way."

"Every breath that I take, every moment I'm awake, Lord have Your way in me."

This is the hard part isn't it? "Lord, have Your way. Really God, I mean it."

I can remember reading in the Bible where King David surrendered his heart to God as did many other prophets in the Old Testament. Reading how Saul, whom Christ renamed Paul, turned his life over to God was also an amazing turn around.

None of them have the impact on my life as it did when I heard my brother-in-law who was dying of cancer say it with real conviction.

In all he was experiencing and through the pain, he never stopped living his life for God and declaring, “Jesus, have Your way in me.” He understood that God didn’t give him the disease, nor was it His desire for him to die, but it was God’s desire that his life was that of sacrifice and pleasing unto Him.

The last day he was on this earth all he spoke were words that were kind, loving and compassionate. With a whisper and only ounces of strength, he told my sister how beautiful she was, knowing she hadn’t slept or rested for days.

Every shallow breath he took and moment he was awake, gave him opportunity to let God have His way in him. How many of us are even willing to say, as Jesus said, "Not My will, but Thine be done”, knowing it may not be ours?

I don’t know where you are in your walk with Christ, but as long as you have breath, you can let God have His will over your life. Why not begin with a renewed heart in the Lord. Jesus loves you so much and wants the best for you. Let Him guide you in everything that you do this year. Give Him your heart!

Are you in fellowship with God

Pray to Jesus right now by repeating this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I am sorry for my sins and for not believing in You as the One and only true God. I now want to make things right with You. Please come into my heart and save me. Forgive me of all my sins and make me clean.

I do believe that You died on the cross to save me from hell, and that You rose from the dead and are now in Heaven.

With all my heart I will follow you and be obedient to Your Word, and will fellowship with other believers. Thank you for saving me today.

In Your name I pray, Amen.

Have you prayed that prayer? If so, please let us know so we can rejoice with you. Leave your comment on my bio page.
