who are they to you

Updated on July 19, 2012

Jesus is your best bud. Follow Him

Who decides for you

“It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you.” (Proverbs 29:25a The English Version)

I don’t know about you, but one of the hard parts of my teenage years was the tug of war. You know, one person says you should do this with your life. Another person says you should do that with your life. You are totally confused and don’t know what to do. With me it was both adults and peers alike.

Did you go though something like that?

Then being in the sixties and seventies, when sex drugs and rock and roll was the battle cry of the youth, there was the intense pressure to abuse drugs, no you don’t use drugs, you let them abuse you. As well there was the pressure to have premarital sex. Being brought up a Christian I knew these things were wrong so refuse to go along with the “in crowd.” Many times I was brutally mocked and laughed at. I can tell you this: forty years later, I am glad to have stood on the moral ground while they regret dancing with the devil.

"Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold" Romans 12:2

God does not expect you to be a doormat to let everyone walk all over you. Nor does He expect you to be a wuss to give in to everyone’s desire.

Doing what is right and refusing to do what is wrong may not make you popular with the “in crowd” but it will not make you very popular with Heavens crowd. Joseph- Anthony: Green

How about you teens today, what are the pressures your peers put on you that you know are wrong? Does it seem as if the whole world is pressuring you and you don’t know which way to turn?

Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it William Penn

There is, of course, the best place to turn for strength when these tempters come a calling. His name is Jesus. Don’t forget, He walked the earth and faced great temptations as well. So, who better to go to than someone who has already been there?

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. Psalms 18:32

When they wickedly rip your heart out with their cruel words, where can you go for comfort? Why Jesus of course. Don’t forget the wicked arrow the Pharisee’s were constantly firing at Jesus.

You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. Psalms 71:21

Please dear children, always remember this: “Jesus is always there, He always cares .His love goes with me everywhere” Joseph- Anthony: Green

Prayer: Please Jesus Rohi (God our Sheppard) please guide my way of thinking towards Heaven, not hell. Guide my thoughts, words and actions today that they may give You praise, honour and glory. May they also guide others to You. When the tempter comes my way please give me the strength to say:”Go away.” I humbly ask this in the name of Him who conquered the deceiver Jesus Christ. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

      Hi teaches.

Yes, it is true. It does not matter how young or old we are, we all experiance peer pressure. That is why it is so important to instill morals in out homes, schools and churches.

Just as important is to have support with in these groups for when perr pressure comes.

      God bless you.

I have had concerns lately over a couple of pre-teens who are beginning to realize the peer group pressure. I love your verses in regards to this: standing strong. We do face being laughed at, even as adults, when we stand up for our beliefs, but to not do so is to deny who we truly are. Great hub!
