2012/13 English Championship League Match-day One Recap
Thomas Ince 2 goals in Blackpool win

Twenty Four clubs started their quest to be promoted to the 2013/14 Premier League. Newly promoted clubs Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday started their quest with draws. Charlton Athletic traveled to Birmingham City and left with a 1-1 draw. Sheffield Wednesday traveled to Derby County and left with a 2-2 draw. Fellow newcomer Huddersfield Town didn't fair as well. They lost 1-0 at Cardiff City.
Three clubs played in the Premier League last year. Poor play regelated them to Championship this year. Blackburn Rovers traveled to Ipswich Town and left with a 1-1 draw. The other two clubs lost on opening day. Bolton Wanderers lost at Burnley 2-0 while Wolverhampton Wanderers lost at Leeds United 1-0.
Other winners during match-day one were Blackpool, Leicester City, Watford, Barnsley, Hull City and Nottingham Forest. Blackpool won at Millwall 2-0. Leicester City was at home and defeated Peterborough United 2-0. Watford won 3-2 at Crystal Palace. Barnsley defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 at home while Hull City got a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. Nottingham Forest defeated Bristol City 1-0 at home.
Two players scored multiple goals during match-day one. Owen Garvan of Crystal Palace and Thomas Ince of Blackpool both scored two goals in their matchups.
Clubs will play a total of 46 matches in their quest for promotion. I like Blackpool's chance at promotion. My other favorite clubs to gain promotion are Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers. I fear Huddersfield Town will get relegated to League One.
