2013 Worlds: Yuna Kim, Mao Asada, and Carolina Kostner

Updated on March 26, 2015

The 2013 Worlds was a meaningful event for some aspect, especially regarding ladies figure skating. It marked the end of figure skating as we know it.

After the 2013 Worlds, the ISU began to openly propagate their criminal agenda advocating Julia Lipnitskaya. Even until now the ISU appears busy covering up their crimes by selling more lies in the name of institutional temerity.

In contrast with its hypocrisy, three veterans were so admirable as athletes in this event.

First of all let's talk about Yuna Kim.

What a performance!

This is one of the most mesmerizing performances Kim has ever produced.

Kim's jumps are +2,+2,+2,+2,+2.+1 and +2. Her PCS is 9.25.

In short program, Kim's jumps are +2, +2, and 0. Her PCS is 9.0.

Although her first jump shows a bit of torque, her quality merits overrun the minor defect.

Mao Asada in 2013

Great performance! This is also one of Asada's greatest pieces. Especially Asada's moves appear smooth and their connection seems good.

Asada's jumps are -3,-3,+1,0,+2, +1 and +1. Her PCS is 8.5.

In her short program, Asada's jumps are -3,-1 and void. Her PCS is 8.0.

I confess. I initially graded 0 for Asada's first jump, not knowing she actually two footed. Yes, the memory escaped me. So in other words, if she weren't two footed, she would have got 0 for the triple axel from me.

Overall, in these two performances Asada proves that she is one of the leading forces in the ladies figure skating, along with Yuna Kim and Carolina Kostner.

Carolina Kostner in 2013

What a performance!

Kostner beats Asada in speed, and beats Kim in power. When Kostner is on with power and speed, she is as competitive as Kim or Asada.

However, Kostner lacks of critical skills related to flexibility, edge, and upper body control. More importantly she lacks of bodily freedom compared to her rivals, Kim and Asada. This leads to deficiency in her general skating.

Kostner never seems performing anything meaningful in the way of figure skating language. She barely gets by at her best, and her stiff skating is almost always content-void.

Her jumps are +2,+1,+1, void, 0,0, and -3. Her PCS is 8.25.

In her short program, her jumps are 0,-3, and +2. Her PCS is 8.0.
