2013/14 Danish Superligaen Match-Day One Recap

Pione Sisto of FC Midtjylland

The Danish Superliga is looking to improve their UEFAstanding this year. They have not been getting the results they have wanted in Europrean competitions the last couple of years. Things have not started out great this year as AaB was destroyed in thier first leg of their Europa League Match-Up.

AGF Aarhus 0-2 FC Midtjylland

NRGi Park hosted the first match of the new season. The home crowd was hoping to pull the upset of Midtjylland. Mikkel Kirkeskov of AGF scored an own goal in the 12th minute to give Midtjylland an early 1-0 lead. Pione Sisto would make it 2-0 when his shot found the back of the net in the 27th minute. AGF's hopes were dashed when Frans Dhia Putros recieved two yellow cards six minutes apart in second half leaving the home crowd with only ten men. Midtjylland would keep lead and open the season with a nice road win.

Ronnie Scwartz of Randers FC

Viborg FF 2-2 Randers FC

Viborg Stadion saw its home tean Viborg FF get a late goal to salvage a draw to open the season. Randers Ronnie Schwartz scored in the 29th minute giving them a 1-0 halftime lead. Viborg's Aleksandar Stankov leveled the score after his goal in the 75th minute. Ronnie Schwartz connected three minutes later to put Randers back ahead. Ousmane Sarr scored in the 88th minute to give the home club an opening round draw.

Bronby 1-1 FC Vestsjaelland

Bronby jumped on the board in the 37th minute when Andrew Hjulsager scored off a an assist from Martin Ornskov. The home club would take that 1-0 lead into half with thoughts of three points on day one. Vestsjaelland had other plans as Dennis Sorensen scored in 67th minute to level the score at 1-1. Oliver Lund assisted on Sorensen's goal. The fans that packed Bronby Stadion would have to settle with a draw on match-day one.

Odense Boldklub 1-1 Sonderjyske

The home fans were treated off early as Krisztian Vadocz scored in the 9th minute to give the home club an early 1-0 lead. They would hold that lead until the 61st minute when Nicolai Madsen scored to level the match at 1-1 in the 61st minute. Things settled after that as both clubs had to live with a draw to start the new season. Both clubs received two yellow cards as play was fairly good.

Esbjerg FB 4-0 FC Nordsjaelland

Blue Water Arena was rocking on Monday as Esbjerg put up four goals to destroy Nordsjaelland to close out match-day one. Martin Braithwaite scored in the eighth and 58th minutes for the home club. He was joined in the two goal category by Mick Van Buren who scored in the 20th and 25th minutes of play. This is a great start for Esbjerg and should help their confidence.

Aalborg BK 2-1 FC Kobenhavn

Nordjyske Arena saw a great second half of play from both clubs as their home club won 2-1 over Kobenhavn. Jeppe Curth got Aalborg on the board first in the 46th minute with his goal. That lead would be short lived as Pierre Bengtsson leveled the score in the 48th minute. Aalborg would get the lead back for good in the 70th minute after Soren Frederiksen scored. This is a great start for Aalborg after their terrible Europa League first leg match last Tuesday.
