2014 NFL Season: Week 7 Predictions

Updated on October 14, 2014

Week 6 Recap

Going to start right away with the recap, as my picks - which I made using the Centrary sports simulator - went 8-6-1 last week. The season total is now 51-39-1. The tie between the Bengals and Panthers won't be documented for accuracy purposes in later articles.

I finally got a game of the week wrong, as Seattle lost at home to Dallas. I'm now 5-1 in those picks. I did get the Snore of the Week correct, as Tennessee hung on to beat Jacksonville, so now I'm 2-4 in those picks.

Best pick: Centrary got the Colts' win over Houston almost perfect, missing Indianapolis' score by a single point.

Worst pick: I would suppose picking the Giants to win when they really got shut out would look bad, so I guess that would be it.

In Week 7, only the Eagles and Buccaneers have off, making this the third consecutive 15-game week. With that, lets pick some winners.

Week 7 Picks

Once again, all picks are courtesy of the Centrary simulator.

@New England 49, NY Jets 28: The Patriots go up 28-14 after three, then go 21-14 in the 4th to get the win.

@Buffalo 14, Minnesota 7: The Bills and Vikings trade TDs in the 4th, which is enough for Buffalo to win.

@Chicago 20, Miami 10: Its 6-0 Chicago at the half, but they do enough in the 2nd half to earn the victory.

@Indianapolis 30, Cincinnati 17: A 24-10 2nd half from the Colts helps them pull away with the win.

New Orleans 24, @Detroit 22: Down in the 4th, a Lions comeback comes short with a failed 2-pt conversion.

@Green Bay 41, Carolina 17: A close game through three, a 20-0 4th quarters gives the Packers the win.

Cleveland 35, @Jacksonville 13: The Browns score in every quarter to get the easy win.

Seattle 44, @St. Louis 27: The Seahawks open up a 24-3 lead, and yet another Rams comeback fails.

@Baltimore 34, Atlanta 16: The Ravens pulls away from the 2nd half to win.

Snore of the Week - @Washington 38, Tennessee 10: Washington pulls away early and blows out the Titans.

@San Diego 26, Kansas City 20 (OT): The two teams trade FGs in overtime, but the Chargers get a touchdown after that to get the win.

@Dallas 37, NY Giants 14: The Cowboys control this game throughout.

Arizona 27, @Oakland 24: The Raiders almost steal a win here, but Arizona gets 10 pts in the 4th to come back and win.

Game of the Week - @Denver 31, San Francisco 7: Tied 7-7 at halftime, Denver goes 24-0 in the 2nd half for the big win.

Houston 27, @Pittsburgh 20: The Texans also get 10 in the 4th to get a comeback win against the Steelers.

Centrary really likes picking the Saints, Seahawks, Bears and Giants to win. It also likes picking the Chiefs, Lions, and Cowboys to lose. This week, it does like the Cowboys over the Giants, but its trends do continue by having Detroit lose to the Saints.

Otherwise, most teams have gone about 50/50 in how often they've been picked to win. Some teams have been picked very accurately (Broncos, Colts, 49ers, ...Jaguars), others not so much (Steelers, Bengals, Panthers). Still, we'll see how accurate things get as the simulator gets more and more data.

The predictions here were made with the Centrary sports simulator, which simulates teams, not players, and in a quick, simple fashion.
