2014 NFL Season: Week 8 Predictions

Updated on October 21, 2014

Week 7 Recap

It was not a particularly strong week. The picks I made using the Centrary simulator went 9-6 last week, for a season total of 60-45-1.

It got the game of the week right, its now 6-1 in such picks. It also got the snore of the week right, its now 3-4 in those picks.

Best pick: It was really close to getting the Denver-San Francisco game correct in the labeled game of the week. It predicted a Denver blowout, it got a Denver blowout.

Worst pick: I could go with the Seattle pick, but taking Cleveland to win BIG in Jacksonville did not pan out that way at all.

For Week 8, only the Giants and 49ers have off, while the Lions and Falcons play in London for the 2nd of three such games.

Week 8 Picks

The Centrary simulator makes all of these picks as is the case every week.

San Diego 20, @Denver 17: The Chargers go 14-3 in the 2nd quarter to get a huge win on Thursday night.

Detroit 20, Atlanta 17 (OT): In this 2nd London game, the Falcons score 14 in the 4th to tie. In OT, the Falcons get a FG but the Lions respond with a TD to earn the win.

Seattle 38, @Carolina 21: The Panthers are limited to 7(!?) Field goals, and Seattle gets back on track.

@Cincinnati 31, Baltimore 20: Down 20-17 after three, the Bengals score the final two touchdowns in the game to earn the win.

Miami 27, @Jacksonville 13: The Dolphins get the lead early and never look back.

@Kansas City 38, St. Louis 24: Both teams score throughout the game, but the Chiefs do it more frequently.

@New England 38, Chicago 10: Scoreless after on, the Patriots flip the switch on and proceed to blow the Bears out.

Buffalo 28, @NY Jets 13: The Bills open up a 21-0 halftime lead. The Jets don't get any points until the 4th quarter.

Houston 20, @Tennessee 3: The Texans outscore the Titans 13-3 in the 4th quarter to get the win.

Snore of the Week - Minnesota 31, @Tampa Bay 6: The Vikings go up 17-6 at halftime and proceed to put the game away in the 2nd half.

Game of the Week - @Arizona 36, Philadelphia 20: The Cardinals score big in the 2nd and 4th quarters to get the big win.

@Cleveland 13, Oakland 10: Tied 10-10 after three, the Browns get the end on a 4th quarter field goal.

Indianapolis 28, @Pittsburgh 10: The Colts, down 10-7 at halftime, go 21-0 in the 2nd half to earn the victory.

Green Bay 30, @New Orleans 21: The Packers go 17-0 in the 2nd half to pull off the comeback win.

@Dallas 24, Washington 7: The Cowboys shut out the Redskins through three quarters to get the easy win.

Takeaways

Next week will feature another indepth look at my picks through these first eight weeks, including individual team accuracy and how the standings would look it Centrary was 100% accurate. For the record, Centrary is currently batting about 57%, which I suppose would be slightly below average for this type of thing. Hopefully that percentage increases after this week.

The predictions here were made with the Centrary sports simulator, which simulates teams, not players, and in a quick, simple fashion.

As a Bills fan, I appreciate the prediction, but I'm not so sure we can blow out anyone. I hope you're right though!
