2015 NFL Season Preview and Predictions--AFC South Division

Updated on December 14, 2015

The Colts are hoping Frank Gore and Andre Johnson can put them over the top.

Colts

The Colts are the class of this division. They should win it easily again. Andrew Luck only continues to grow into one of the best QB's in the league. He does need to cut down on the interceptions in big games. He cut down on them in the regular season. He had a great 2014 season passing for close to 5000 yards and 40 TDs. I only expect him to get better. They upgraded their running game by signing Frank Gore. Gore could help take the pressure of Luck and give balance to the offense. The receiving core is solid. T.Y. Hilton is a star and one of the best playmakers in the league. They added Andre Johnson so teams can't just focus on taking Hilton out of the game. The offensive line needs to get stronger. Luck still takes more hits than he should and the are not strong run blockers.

The Colts defense played well in 2014. They were ranked 11th in the league. The Colts blamed the Pats for deflating the balls in the AFC Championship game. The Colts lost because they have no balls. They got their butts kicked. The Pats have owned the Colts. Their is no way around it. They have struggled to beat Tom Brady in the playoffs so they had to make up a reason for losing again. You'd think by now they would change something up or try to build their team to stop him. The Packers did it when the Vikings got Randy Moss and they couldn't stop him. They started drafting bigger and stronger cornerbacks. Until the Colts can stop Brady, I don't see them winning the Super Bowl. I think it will be another year of playoff disappointment.

There are very few unstoppable players in the NFL and JJ Watt is definitely one of them.

Texans

The Texans were one of the surprise teams in 2014. I don't think they will sneak up on anyone this year. They will be a tough team to play every week. Their downfall this year will be the same from last year. They need to find a starting QB. This year's battle will be between Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallet and Tom Savage. All seem like back ups at best. The offense will be hurt with Arian Foster missing the first half of the season with a groin injury.

The defense is still legit and will keep them in a lot of games. JJ Watt is the best player in the league and is a game changer. If they could get Jadeveon Clowney on the field the Texans could have one of the most explosive duos. That's a big if. Bill O'Brien needs to settle on a starting QB for this team to take the next leap. They can't go into another year with the most important position unsettled. I think they will compete and fall short of the playoffs again.

Titans

The Titans can only get better in 2015. They have to. I can't imagine them being this bad two years in a row. Now let's not get crazy, by better I mean I expect them to win 2 more games than they did last year. I like them drafting Marcus Mariota. I just hope that they adjust their offense to his skill sets. If head coach Ken Wisenhunt is stubborn and try to make him a drop back QB right away they will struggle big time. I don't understand why coaches won't adjust to their talent. I think Mariota could be a drop back QB but I don't feel that he is there now. It will take time but for now let him do what he does best. If they do I think they can have something to build on for 2016. I just think with a rookie QB and a team that was bad on both sides of the ball, the Titans will have another long season.

Jaguars

The Jaguars have hopes for the future if Blake Bortles continues to develop. I just don't believe Gus Bradley will be apart of that future. He was a bad hire and if the Jags don't see significant improvement in year 3, they can't possibly bring him back. If they do, not much will change. I think Blake Bortles will make this team attractive to coaching prospects in 2016. I just think they won't do much under Bradley. Jaguar fans should expect another long painful season. The Jaguars were 31st in offense and 26th on defense. It's surprising consider people seem thought so highly of him when he was defensive coordinator of the Seahawks. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Seattle's defense success is due to Pete Carroll.

We agree that the Colts will win the divison. They seem to think the Colts will have a great season. I think they will be good but not that good. We are close on Texans and Titans. They believe in Gus Bradley and I clearly don't.

Fair enough on the logo. I'll try to find a newer one. I think I'm positive on the Texans because I didn't think they'd win more than 2 games last year due to their QB situation and they fooled me. I'm coming around on Bill O'Brien. I'll have to keep my eye on the Jags. Good points. I like Blake Bortles but I'm just not sold on Gus Bradley. But I wasn't sold on Bill O'Brien before the season and was impressed by what he did in his first year.

If i can nit-pick, please use an updated logo for the Jags.

Your summary on the Jags didn't really say much but I guess I can understand from someone who expects them to win 3 games this year. Also, you do a ton of writing which is fun to read.

The Titans are in a way worse position than Jacksonville based solely on their defense, not to mention a rookie QB who I think will be a positive for them.

Texans are going to be worse as the QB position is important to teams as you mentioned above. They have what could be a potential "great D-Line" there in Houston but until you have a QB to run the offense, not happening in this league.

Jacksonville finished 6th in sacks in the NFL last year and the defense should stay on point. The first team offense looks way ahead of their best games last year and Bortles is garnering national attention right now.

Don't be surprised if the Jags finish higher than everyone expects.....for once!
