2015 Skate America: short programs

Updated on December 1, 2015

I laughed when I heard the commentator said "glorious transitions".

Goodness Gracious! What kind of transition are they that the skater constantly kicks, pushes and hops to make?

Evgenia is a lovely girl. I like all the efforts she puts out, but she doesn't need to imitate Adelina. It appears that all Russian girls somehow think that miming is a part of figure skating.

As for her jumps, I am beyond appalled that the judges gave +GOE on her jumps. Yeah, it must be something you and I can't see that only the ISU judges can see, right? I don't think so.

By the way, her jumps are -2,-1 and -1. Her PCS is 6.5.

Gracie is not impressive here, but she has managed to skate good enough.

Her skating is quite straightforward and shows no sign of any cheating, but due to her lack of mastery, she shows much stiffness throughout he program as always.

In other words, the term "polishing" is such an evasive word for her like most figure skaters.

Her jumps are 0, void and 0. Her PCS is 7.0

This is a real skater.

Her speed and her moves are satisfactory. Pity that she didn't make it on her first jump combo.

But just take a look at how she approaches the first jump combo. That's how a figure skater should skate. Alaine has been properly trained.

Her jumps are -3, -1 and 0. Her PCS is 7.5.

Julia has recently improved a lot, but here, her skating appears too rough.

To me, she doesn't put up any effort. Sad.

Her jumps are -2,-3 and -1 Her PCS is 6.75. I think I am a bit generous in PCS.

There was a moment I really like, when she approaches the first jump. It was good. Then, viola! Her free leg went wild at landing.

Satoko's jumps are too low, tight, and tiny and its axis is so often over tilted. She might be far less messy than Julia when it comes to jumping technique, but essentially she is no different from Russian jumping deficiency.

Inaccurate and wrong.

What sets Satoko from Russians is, however, that she is able to produce nice moves in continuity. But it is a mimetic version by a junior level skater.

Her jumps are -2,-1 and -1 and her PCS is 6.75.

Who do you think is the real winner of short programs?
