2015 Skate Canada: short programs
I like Ashley's power and speed here. That's good enough to earn 8.0 PCS in average.
However, I don't see executions in high degree. I will have to be content with Ashley's flawless performance.
Her jumps are 0,-1, 0 and 0. Her PCS is 8.0.
Pity that she didn't perfect the first combo due to the wall.
It was the best jump combo in this day and age. I almost felt as if it were done by young Yuna Kim's. Nagai's takeoff was impressing indeed. But her second jump seems imperfect perhaps due to the board. So I had to give -1 on the first combo.
But it was the most satisfying jump combo. In an era of depletion like this, she is a rare gem, a skater with a proper training.
In terms of technical content, her skating beats all the rest. What she lacks is performing quality, that is, polishing and completeness. That's a minor issue compared to her competitors.
Some parts of figure skating - such as sophistication, definitive line or extension - can be matured only by time and experience.
One thing is clear, however. Nagai is the least flawed skater in her jumping technique based on this performance.
Her jumps are -1, 0 and 0. Her PCS is 7.5.
Her jumps are powerful and fast, but the first jump combo is flawed with torque.
But I think this is often found in Kaetlyn's jumps. In my opinion, torque issue is not a small one, but is not as inherent as other defects such as stability/balance related junks.
Accurately speaking, a jump with torque shall not earn GOE.
But the real disaster comes after the first and second jumps passes. She lost concentration obviously on the dead-drop, I guess, or she might have just slipped. Too bad. Otherwise, it could have been an awesome comeback for her.
Kaetlyn's skating is a typical power skating. So, it takes high risk of falling and its consequences. It's the opposite to Liza's skating - Liza's momentum-devoid skating is a technical cheating.
Kaetylin's jumps here are 0, 0 and -3 and Her PCS is 7.5.
As the commentator mentioned, Polina is the best in arm and leg movement.
That's what makes her the most sophisticated figure skater today. But Polina is also the most victimized skater due to the ISU's ongoing Russian fraud as well as her own lack of stamina and power.
However, I am content with her expressiveness and lyrical style. She is one of a few skaters today who makes the once glorious sport a real sport. Good job, Polina!
Her jumps are 0,0 and -3. Her PCS is 7.5.
