Traditional Binoculars

One of my husband's favorite activities is to sit on our back patio with a pair of binoculars. Whenever he spots a hawk, owl, whippoorwill, or one of the many other types of birds that are common in our area, he will carefully observe them with his binoculars. For him, this is a relaxing, peaceful way to enjoy an afternoon.

I also enjoy using our binoculars whenever there is a lunar eclipse or the planet Mars is close to the earth and it is especially bright in the night sky. While binoculars may not be quite as effective as a telescope for star-gazing, they are often much handier and some of them are incredibly powerful.

You may have someone on your gift list who is hoping to get a new pair of binoculars for a birthday or other special occasion. There are many different activities that make cause people to want binoculars. For example, they may enjoy going to concerts or other performances and can only afford the cheaper seats. Or, they may enjoy bird watching, like my husband, or whale watching. In addition, they may be hunters or star-gazers. Some binoculars are so powerful, they are almost as good as the typical backyard telescope ... and they are far less complicated to use.

Whatever reason they want binoculars, you will soon discover that there are many basic models to choose from, with prices that start as low as $20. Manufacturers now offer all kinds of features, including different magnifications, waterproofing, and adaptability to tripods. Some may be used as scopes. For the typical person who just wants to see better at a concert or do a little bird watching from their backyard patio, these basic, traditional binoculars will meet their needs. They can be purchased from a variety of sporting goods stores, as well as online at sites like Amazon. com. A few examples will be mentioned later in this article. However, instead of the traditional binoculars, some people may want to try one of the newer, high-tech 3D types of binoculars that are currently available.

Celestron SkyMaster Binoculars are a Popular Choice

This binoculars are designed to make it easier to view the stars at night. They even come with a tripod adapter, so you can make sure they sit absolutely still while you check out the moon or the rings around Saturn!

3D Binoculars

Bushnell, Carson and other manufacturers have come up with a new line of 3D binoculars that produce spectacular results. These binoculars use a special system that enhances the light-gathering ability of their binoculars, making the images especially sharp and bright. Most designs also have a rubberized coating that makes their binoculars more rugged. In addition, they are typically lightweight, waterproof, fog proof, and designed for use with eyeglasses. Their best feature, however, is their 3D images that make you feel as if you are really a part of the view. For the serious hunter or bird watcher, these new 3D binoculars provide a spectacular experience! For example, he would be able to look at a hawk flying over our home, while relaxing comfortably on our patio.

I have seriously considered getting my husband a pair of 3D binoculars for his birthday or Christmas, since I know how much he would enjoy seeing even more detail when he does his bird watching. I have also had some friends who took 3D binoculars along with them when they went on an African photo safari. What a thrill it was for them to feel as though they were getting up-close and personal with some of the African wildlife ... while still being able to stay at a safe distance!

Although 3D binoculars can be much more expensive than traditional binoculars, the enhanced vision you get when using these binoculars make them very appealing to many hunters, bird watchers, concert goers and others.

If you are looking for a memorable gift for someone, or even want to purchase new binoculars as a gift to yourself, these 3D binoculars are certain to provide you with a unique viewing experience!

Shown below is a popular example of the type of binoculars you can get from Amazon. Which is Better - Traditional or 3D Binoculars?

The type of binocular that will be right for you depends on several factors. For example, if you just want an inexpensive pair of binoculars that will only be used occasionally at a concert or for a little backyard birdwatching, then a traditional pair of binoculars at the low end of the price range is probably a realistic choice.

If you want a pair of binoculars that will enhance your enjoyment of a spectacular event in your life, such as seeing your favorite band perform or going on an African safari, then you may wish to invest in a more expensive pair of 3D binoculars.

Take the poll below and let us know which type of binoculars you would prefer to have! Although the vast majority of people actually own traditional binoculars, most of the people who have taken this poll say they would love to own 3D binoculars. What about you?

I would love to see what 3D Binocular look like. How much better could they possibly be than traditional high-powered binoculars?

Great review! I didn't know there were 3D binoculars but I guess with technology as it is today it shouldn't be at all surprising. This article can be very helpful for someone in the market for their first pair of binoculars or someone who wants to trade up. Will share this good advice with my followers.

The technology for binoculars keeps improving. We often use ours when we attend the Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters, an outdoor summer art festival in which real people dress up as the characters in paintings, and "insert" themselves into giant frames with painted backdrops. It is fascinating to use the binoculars to look at the works of art up close.

3D Binoculars? What will they think of next? I have recently picked up on bird watching and a pair of bird watcher binoculars like this would be great. I think I might have to pick up a pair. (
