5 Best Disney World Attractions
Walt Disney World Resort is considered the best family vacation spot on the planet. Between its 4 theme parks - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studio - the resort is chock-full of amazing attractions and thrilling rides. So how do you choose which rides to prioritize for your next vacation? Here are my top 5 best Disney World attractions to help you narrow down your selections.
It would be nearly impossible to experience every attraction in a single trip to Disney World. And with the amount of time you will be spending in lines, it's really important to choose your attractions wisely.
But before I get started, please remember that everyone's taste is different, and these are just a few of my picks among many great rides. Some rides may have height requirements and not suitable for small children. Be sure to investigate all of Disney's attractions before you select your FastPasses. And lastly, keep in mind that Walt Disney World is as large as the city of San Francisco. I would recommend that you study a good Disney World map before you get inside the park. This will be a huge time-saver and minimize any confusion on the morning you descend upon the park.
With that said, here are my top 5 best Disney World attraction for your next visit!
5. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Hollywood Studios)
The Twilight Zone television series is one of my all-time favorite shows, so its no surprise that I was initially attracted to this Disney World attraction. And ever since I rode this attraction for the first time, it has always been one of my favorites in the entire park!
The ride is set in a seemingly ordinary elevator inside the foreboding Hollywood Tower Hotel. Riders are presented with a backstory in which a number of elevator riders have mysteriously disappeared over the years through some kind of supernatural influence.
Twilight Zone Tower of Tower is considered an accelerated drop tower dark ride so it's not for small children (or the faint of heart). The rider will experience abrupt drops in a dark, enclosed space as they are propelled up and down the elevator shaft.
But for those who dare enter this attraction, the horror will have your heart racing and the excitement will put a smile on your face!
4. Festival of the Lion King (Animal Kingdom)
I really wanted to include a stage show in my attraction list because, well, Disney stage shows are awesome! Fortunately, there's plenty of stage-shows at Disney World and just about all of them have showtimes throughout the day (so a FastPass won't be necessary).
Festival of the Lion King is 30-minutes long and takes place in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. The show is a fast-paced and mesmerizing performance full of creative costuming, colors, and raw talent. It features an array of captivating percussive beats and vocals based on the classic Lion King's soundtrack. In addition, guests are treated to trampoline acrobatics, stilt walking, dancing, and Audio-Animatronics. are treated to Disney's The Lion King’s and a whirlwind of colors and costuming.
This all leads up to my favorite part of the show - the finale - a stirring rendition of the “Circle of Life." Festival of the Lion King is fun for the entire family and certainly not a Disney attraction to skip over!
3. Soarin' (Epcot)
Soarin’ edges Test Track as the most exhilarating ride at Epcot, in my opinion.
This flight motion simulator attraction employs a mechanical lift to raise guest into the air in order to simulate a hang-gliding experience. It also uses an 80-foot IMAX digital projection dome, realistic smells, and artificial wind to complete the authentic feel. Simply put, Disney has really outdone themselves with this attraction. It's amazing!
The flight begins over the Swiss Alps and then glides over the polar bears of Arctic, the harbor in Sydney Australia, over a herd of elephants in Africa and the Great Wall of China, Egyptian pyramids, India's Taj Mahal, South America, Paris' Eiffel Tower and then culminating in a returning to Epcot.
The visuals and effects are stunning. You will be able to see some of the world's greatest natural and man-made wonders without leaving your seat!
2. Kilimanjaro Safaris (Animal Kingdom)
No visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom would be complete without experiencing the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction.
This open-air vehicle ride takes you on a guided tour of Animal Kingdom’s majestic 110-acre African savanna (Harambre Wildlife Reserve), Here you will have an opportunity to view dozens of majestic animals up close without ever being in danger.
The journey traverses past rocky wetlands, forests, and open plains as your personal tour guide adds some color with interesting wildlife tidbits throughout the 18-minute expedition. Some of the animals you will encounter include lions, elephants, giraffes, hippopotamuses, rhinos, zebras, cheetahs, baboons, and crocodiles. I've never been on a real African safari, but I feel like this comes close.
Be advised that FastPasses are highly recommended for this attraction because the line moves slowly. However, it's worth the wait in line even if you don't have a FastPass.
Bring your camera and enjoy the ride!
1. Pirates of the Caribbean (Magic Kingdom)
Pirates of the Caribbean is quite possibly the most iconic attractions at Magic Kingdom and possibly in all of Disney World. It's a definite must-do attraction for sure!
Riders take a swashbuckling voyage back to a time when pirates ruled the high-seas. As you step aboard your ship, guests will travel through disheveled seaport towns and past the ghostly Dead Man’s Cove. All the while, a host of drunken pirates sing “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate’s Life for Me” as cannons blast around you. You may even spot Captain Jack Sparrow among the pirates, who, as you may know, was played by Johnny Depp in the Hollywood film franchise based on this very attractive.
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of those great classic Disney attractions. It's fun, lively, memorable, iconic and suitable for any age group. My entire family loves it as much as I do. And again, FastPass+ is recommended for this attraction because it will be crowded.
Enjoy your Trip!
I hope this page was helpful as you narrow down your attractions. Remember to plan and book your trip as early as possible because the popular FastPasses, Disney Resorts, and Advance Dining Reservations tend to book quickly.
Enjoy your Disney World vacation!
