A fun family day fishing

Updated on June 25, 2011

Most people enjoy fishing

Now that summer is here, I think it is the perfect time to plan a fun filled family day fishing.

Some of the best memories of my life come from the many fishing trips I have been on, I love to see the look of amazement in a kids eyes when you catch a fish, it is truly fun and very enjoyable for me.

I usually pack a cooler full of coca cola with some sandwiches and chips and even if I don't catch anything I usually have a great time just getting out and enjoying nature and fishing.

I usually try to fish around a local lake and get some good exercise just walking out to find a good fishing spot, the only thing is you need to be careful and not step on a snake and make sure you buy a fishing license or you might get a ticket for fishing without a permit from a game warden.

In North Alabama we have some of the best fishing anywhere, there are lakes, rivers, and ponds everywhere and there are several different kind of fish to catch.

The catfish is always a favorite but we also have large & small mouth bass, striped bass, brim, perch, crappie, jack salmon and many others. I even caught a big ole ugly alligator gar one time it had teeth on it so big I had to take a pair of pliers to remove the hook from its mouth...boy that was one scary fish.

If you have never been fishing or have children who haven't right now would be a good time to start, just remember not to litter and buy a license to fish if it is needed and you can start making some memories of your own.

Good Luck and God-Bless

I need 20 people to help me reach my dream.

Hi Manthy, nice hub. Thanks for the fan mail. :) I have a brother in law that hails from Mobile, AL (husband of Danette Watt-one of the hubbers here).

I'm sure you have some great memories of days spent catching a catfish or two? I never ate catfish up in MI where I am originally from, but have learned to love them since I've moved to NC.

Looking forward to reading more of your work. :)
