Buying Affordable Kids Mountain Bikes Online
If you want to buy a kids mountain bike, you will have to choose the model carefully to bring the most satisfaction to both you and the child. Bikes differ in quality by a great deal, and children's bikes maybe even more so.
Choosing the best mountain bike for your kid needs you to keep certain points in mind.
You need to get a bike that both fits you child right now, with some adjustability for a growing child.
Consider both your kid's experience and ability with some room for improvement. Experience might not be as much of a consideration as with adult bikes since it is rare that a bike will last for more than a couple of years.
Whatever the kids preferred riding style, from the just riding around the neighborhood to those who take mountain biking more seriously, there should be a bike that specifically fits your kid.
Best bike for the money:
To evaluate these kids mountain bikes, we have looked at both the popularity and the best average consumer rankings. This lens shows the best, most affordable mountain bikes that fit most beginner or non-technical mountain biking needs.
Finding The Coolest Mountain Bike For Kids
A kids mountain bike is a fantastic choice for any boy on girl wishing for a new riding experience. With more range than even the ever popular BMX bikes, the suitable kids mountain bikes available will readily climb hills and do some mild off-road biking.
Mountain bicycles should be able to cover a reasonable range of terrain, at the very least fire-trails, grass, off-road tracks, etc. And if you get a more expensive model, then your kid can even use their new bike for more serious mountain biking, going on cross-country or downhill trails.
For the best experience, flexibility and quality it would be preferable to stick to hardtails. Bikes with full suspension tend to weigh more. Also at this price range the you don't get any real good suspension.
Note: In general most kids mountain bikes shown here are not made for serious mountain biking. They do though handle most dirt trails, grass and other the off-track terrain found in most suburbs.
If you want to take your child on more difficult mountain biking trails, such as riding on cross-country, trails, you will need to invest more than a couple of hundred dollars. Good brands to look at are Trek, Cannondale, and Ferrari.
For a bit less, but still good for any beginner trails to more intermediate trails, these two from Diamondback Octane 24 Mountain Bike and Diamondback 2013 Cobra Junior Mountain Bike are excellent value for the money.

Best Rated 20-inch Kids Mountain Bike
Diamondback Bicycles 2014 Octane Boy's Mountain Bike
Best Rated Kids Bike
The Diamondback Octane Boy's Mountain Bike is a well-made bike for kids. It comes with an excellent quality, durable and well-designed frame made from lightweight aluminum (5-year warranty) with a beautiful painted finish and hydroformed tubing.
Gears are a name brand, they are Shimano, which are pretty good, and the shifters use the Revo-shift system a smooth way to change the gears. For even more durability, they have a good quality stable alloy breaks.
The fork is adjustable, with just a twist you can make the suspension harder or softer to match the terrain you are riding on/
For the pedals, it comes with tough alloy pedals, very different from the usual plastic pedals most kids MTBs.
24 Inch Version
The bike comes with most of the parts already assembled, and most of what needs assembly is pretty simple. That it except for when it comes to adjusting the V-brakes and derailleurs. Unless you are familiar with these adjustments, you are probably better of having this done at a bike shop.
Once the brakes and derailleurs are adjusted by a professional, you should find the octane is a very stable bike with quick, accurate shifting and excellent braking.
The bike is still good value even if you have to pay to get it tuned up just right.

How to Buy the Right size Mountain Bike for Your Kid
Check what size you child needs before buying!
Kids/Youth bikes sized by the diameter of the wheel. It is important to get a bike that is the right size for your child. A bike that is too high will not let the kid have the needed control of the bicycle and can result in a bad fall.
Buy the bike using your child's height rather than age. Your child may be short or tall for his/her age, and the most comfortable bike will be one that fits his/her height. The age column is for reference only, and should only be used if you are not able to get the real height of the child.
