The Philippines has a lot to offer to almost everyone who wish to visit us. Because of its more than 7 thousand island, we can also say that we are abundant with beaches. Our country don't only offer beautiful beaches but also some good water sports and one of them is Surfing. There are famous surfing sport here in the Philippines one of which is the surfing capital of the country which is Siargao.

This surfing spot is so popular in the whole world that a lot of foreigners pay visit to the place, specially those professional surfers. But how about those who want to start learning surfing? Is there any place in the Philippines where they can do that?

San Juan, La Union a haven for surf beginner

In the north part of the country there is a place where beginner surfer can enjoy the wave without the trouble of those big waves. The Surfing Capital of the North which is located at Barangay Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union, Philippines is the place to be if you want to learn surfing. This surfing paradise is just a 5-6 hours drive from Manila. You can also ride a bus from Manila and tell the driver to drop you off at the surfing area which almost everyone up in the north knows.

How to get there?

If you have a car you can take the NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) and go directly to SCTEX (Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway). The end of the expressway will be take you to the national highway, just drive and follow the road and you will reach the surfing area in no time.

If you will be commuting, you can take the bus in Cubao, Quezon City and tell the driver to drop you off at the surfing area.

When is the best time to surf?

The best time to surf in San Juan, La Union is from October to February every year. It is the time of the year where the consistent wind will make your surfing more fun and easier to learn.

Where to stay?

There are a lot of good resorts around the place. It can range from the cheapest up to the expensive resorts in the place. Here is the list of some good resorts in the area.

      It look gorgeous! I have only gone surfing twice, but I loved it and hope to get out there soon. What does Mabuhay mean?
