Best Women Superstars in WWE Today
What a past couple of years it has been for the state of women's wrestling in WWE. Going from being called "Divas" to "Superstars", changing the titles from the "Divas Championship" back to the "Women's Championship", having the first ever Women's Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, Money In The Bank, Hell In A Cell, on top of main-eventing WWE PPVs to now the announcement of the first-ever All-Women's Pay-Per-View event, Evolution. The best thing about it, is that the Women's Revolution is nowhere finished. Changing from bra and panties matches to Iron Man matches, the women in WWE are finally being treated as equal to the men. What has helped WWE realize this most of all is the extremely talented women's roster they have today. From NXT to Smackdown LIVE to RAW there is no doubt WWE's women's roster is the best it has ever been. Let's look at some of these great superstars who have anchored the women's revolution.
Charlotte Flair
Perhaps one of the greatest women's wrestlers of all time, the daughter of 2 time WWE Hall Of Famer, Ric Flair - Charlotte Flair. Charlotte is probably THE woman in WWE in so many ways. She has certainly lived up to her potential thus far being one of the best in-ring performers of all time. Her countless classics with Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, Becky Lynch, Ruby Riott and more speak for themselves. Charlotte is already a 4-time RAW Women's Champion, 1-time Smackdown Women's Champion, 1-time Divas Champion, 1-time NXT Women's Champion and she has only been on the Main Roster for 3 years! Whether she is a heel or babyface, Charlotte has remained one of the biggest stars in the company. If there is a question of who is the women's "face" of the company it definitely has to be Charlotte Flair.
Sasha Banks
One of the most popular stars in the entire company, Sasha Banks. The Legit Boss has wowed the audience ever since starting in NXT. She really started becoming popular in NXT when she joined Summer Rae in the "BFFs" stable where she adopted her persona "The Boss". She became so popular that she was above the stable's level and started venturing on her own path to becoming NXT Women's Champion. She would go on to win it by defeating Charlotte Flair in a series of amazing matches. Sasha was an incredible heel as her promos came across as authentic and her general swagger was on point. When she transitioned to the Main Roster she continued being a heel for a bit but her popularity got fans behind her and she turned face. Sasha is a 4-time RAW Women's Champion and 1-time NXT Women's Champion. However, none of her RAW Women's Championship reigns lasted long and she has not successfully defended her title in any of those reigns. It may seem like she is in a bit of a slump as of late but I believe that WWE is only trying to give the other women chances to shine and Sasha's time will come around again very soon.
Alexa Bliss
This addition may be very controversial as there seems to be a lot of people out there who don't like Alexa Bliss. However, I will try to make you understand why Alexa should be on this list. Alexa has shocked the WWE Universe coming from NXT, where she didn't really achieve much at all, along with being one of the last draft picks in the 2016 WWE draft to now being a 5 time Women's Champion in WWE. Alexa though her moveset may not suggest so, is a very talented woman in many different aspects. If you haven't seen much of what Alexa did in NXT then go back and watch it, she actually has a lot of cool moves in her arsenal which she doesn't use because she is a heel. Her ability on the microphone is simply amazing. I have not seen a woman in WWE since AJ Lee that is able to work a crowd and be as comfortable on a microphone like Alexa Bliss. She has gone above and beyond her expectations in WWE thus far and has been perfect in her role. Remember she is a heel and you are supposed to hate her. She is the perfect heel which is why she is champion so much, there is no woman on the roster that is on her level as a heel and I even say she is the female "Miz". Whether you like her or not she plays her role perfectly. Being as small as she is and being able to get fans to hate her is amazing. Normally the smaller person would be seen as the underdog and would be cheered for but Alexa has somehow made it work to perfection thus far. I can't wait for the day when she turns babyface because I think she has a lot of potential as a babyface as well.
Asuka
The Empress of Tomorrow, Asuka is simply incredible. From Osaka, Japan Asuka has put her name in the history books of WWE in many ways thus far. Asuka had a decade-long career of many accomplishments before coming to WWE and everyone knew she was going to be a big star in the company. She started out in NXT and started her undefeated streak going through everyone in her path to becoming NXT Women's Champion. She would hold the title for 510 days before relinquishing it and heading to RAW. Asuka would continue her streak on RAW winning the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble and the Mixed Match Challenge with The Miz. Asuka's streak would, unfortunately, come to an end at WrestleMania 34 where she lost to Charlotte Flair by submission ending her streak at 914 days. She would continue to be in the Women's Championship picture but has yet to win the gold. Asuka will go down in history as one of the greatest women to step in between those ropes. She still has a long way to go and I know many people are anxious to see her win the title but trust me she has many title runs in her future. She has shown she can be a great face or a great heel and has not shown any weaknesses playing either role. The sun is nowhere close to setting on the Empress of Tomorrow's WWE Career.
Ronda Rousey
Ronda has shocked the entire WWE Universe with her incredible improvement after such a short period of time in WWE. She has shown good in-ring skills thus far even though she is noticeably very limited in the ring but WWE has done a wonderful job in working to her strengths and hiding her weaknesses. Rousey is getting way more comfortable on the microphone and her segments are always quite epic. She is extremely popular in WWE as the crowd chants her name very loudly and her merchandise can be seen all throughout the arena. The biggest women's star in WWE Today still has lots of feuds which fans would be extremely excited for such as with Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Natalya, Asuka, and many more.
Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch is probably one of the best babyfaces in the women's division in WWE. She became the first ever SmackDown Women's Champion but has not done anything major since then. Recently, Becky has started to pick up steam once again as she is on a winning streak and seems to be on her way to facing Carmella for the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam. Becky is very good in the ring and has countless great matches with stars such as Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Ruby Riott and more. She has lots of charisma and is very likeable which makes her very popular among the WWE fanbase. Up until this point I can't remember hearing a crowd really being against Becky at all. Even though she has not done much yet, I believe WWE is starting to realize her potential and we will start to see a renewed focus on Lynch in the title scene.
Ruby Riott
An underdog on this list would be Ruby Riott. Ruby has been very impressive since coming to the Main Roster of WWE as she has done nothing but excel in every role she has been given. She is the leader of the Riott Squad which consists of her, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan, however, to be honest, she just seems too good to be in that group at all. Ruby has so much potential on her own and I think WWE is realizing it as well as she has been given lots of opportunities to shine as of late. Her mic skills are pretty good and she seems very natural when speaking. Her in-ring skills are spectacular as seen in her awesome bouts with Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and more. She has a unique look which sets her apart from all of the other women on the roster and carries herself like an absolute star. I think in a year or two we will see Riott on top of the women's division as a Women's Champion on either RAW or Smackdown LIVE.
