Buffalo Bills 2012 Schedule Preview Weeks 6-10

Updated on June 5, 2012

Buffalo Bills Schedule Gets Interesting

The first five weeks of the schedule feature the Bills playing three road games and two home games. After week five, the Bills will play three of their next four games on the road. The other week is their bye week.

I have projected the Bills to go 4-1 in their first five games. You can see my previews and predictions for the first five games by clicking on the link. This is the point in the season where the Bills started to falter a little bit. Ryan Fitzpatrick supposedly was injured around this time last season and was wildly inconsistent afterward.

How will the Bills respond during this stretch of the season? Let's preview the 2012 Buffalo Bills schedule weeks 6-10 right now!

Buffalo Bills At Arizona Cardinals

The Buffalo Bills travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. This is their first meeting since the 2008 season. That game featured Adrian Wilson knocking Trent Edwards out of the game with a concussion. Edwards would rebound in his next game, but he was not nearly the same player after that. This year, the Bills look to salvage the second game of their road trip.

Match-Up To Watch

Arizona's O-line vs Buffalo's Front Seven

Arizona hasn't been accused of having the best offensive line in the league. The starting quarterback for the game may not even be announced until just prior to kickoff. John Skelton and Kevin Kolb are both decent starters. However, neither is going to do much unless their line holds up. If they do, look for Larry Fitzgerald to have a big day.

On defense, it will be interesting to see if Patrick Peterson is able to take a step up to the next level as a defender. The first round pick of the Cardinals in the 2011 draft needs to become more than just a great punt returner.

Bills Win If...

The Bills win if they are able to run the ball against a Cardinals defense that has been known to be pushed around a bit. Outside of Patrick Peterson, there isn't really anyone in the Cardinals secondary that is a shutdown player. Hopefully Fitz can take advantage. Rattling Skelton/Kolb will be key to shutting down what can be an anemic Cardinals offense.

Prediction

This will be another good game, but Buffalo does just enough to win. Buffalo 24 Arizona 21

Buffalo Bills Vs Tennessee Titans

Buffalo faces the Titans at home for the second consecutive season. A depleted Bills squad lost the match-up last season as Fitz through three heartbreaking interceptions. The lone bright spot was C.J Spiller who rushed for almost 100 yards in the first half. Buffalo will be looking for a big win just before their bye week.

Match-Up To Watch

Chris Johnson vs CJ2K

Which person is going to show up? Will it be the CJ2k who has the ability to put up 2,000 yards rushing in a season, or will it be the Chris Johnson who was far from elite last season. Odds are that he will have a decent game against the Bills. He did last year even when he wasn't at his peak. Buffalo must contain him if they hope to win this game.

Bills Win If...

Buffalo wins if they are able to avoid the mistakes that doomed them against the Titans last year. Committing to the running game while avoiding costly turnovers is going to be key. The Buffalo Bills should have learned a thing or two from their game last year. At quarterback, Jake Locker should be the starter. Can they make the young QB pay?

Prediction

Buffalo wins this game if they correct their mistakes from last year. Otherwise, the Titans win this game. However, I see Buffalo pulling this out at home. Buffalo 28 Titans 21

Week 8-Buffalo Bye Week

The Bills will have week eight as their bye week this season. It comes at a good time as it is right in the middle of the schedule. At 6-1, the Bills are off to an amazing start this season. Assuming that the Bills stay healthy, they should be in a good position to make a run for a playoff berth. A division title isn't out of the picture if some things fall their way.

Buffalo Bills At Houston Texans

The Buffalo Bills travel to Houston to take on the Texans in this critical match-up in the AFC. Buffalo is looking to go to 7-1 on the season while also trying to establish tie-breakers over another potential contender for a playoff spot. Buffalo will need to be ready for a fight if they expect to come out on top.

Match-Up To Watch

Houston's triplets vs Buffalo's defense

Matt Schaub, Arian Foster and Andre Johnson are among the best at their respective positions. As Buddy Nix would say, Johnson is open even when he is covered. Foster will go for 100 yards just by showing up and Schaub is not afraid to air it out. Will Mario Williams be able to exact some revenge on his former team? Possibly.

The Bills Win If...

Buffalo wins if they are able to keep the Houston offense in check. Mario Williams needs to have a big game here. He should have a little extra motivation seeing as he is playing his former team.

Prediction

Houston proves to be too much at home. It will be another shoot-out for both teams. Houston wins this one 42-38.

Buffalo Bills At New England Patriots

The Buffalo Bills travel to Foxboro, Mass. to play the New England Patriots in a re-match from earlier in the season. Tom Brady and Co. will be looking for revenge after losing yet another game in Buffalo. Expect the two teams to score a lot of points again as the Bills try to avoid lost two games in a row for the first time this season.

What To Watch For

We all know that Gronkowski will be a major factor in the game against Buffalo. In this game, watch to see how Fitz reacts to playing in New England. While he hasn't necessarily struggled here, he generally plays better against the Patriots at home. Also watch out for Stevie Johnson's antics. He has been called out by the league twice for a little showmanship against New England.

The Bills Win If...

Fitzpatrick needs to be firing on all cylinders to keep the Bills offense marching. Fred Jackson is good against New England, so maybe he gets a little extra work in this game. On defense, the Bills just need to force Brady into a couple of mistakes. Not likely.

Prediction

Buffalo proves they still need a little bit of work when it comes to winning big games on the road. New England 38 Buffalo 35

Bills Still Looking Good Heading Into The Second Half Of The Season

Buffalo will be sitting at 6-3 after 10 weeks of the 2012 season. That should put them within shouting distance of the New England Patriots in the AFC East divisional title race. At worst, they should be well within reach of a wildcard berth.

As Bills fans know, we need to stay healthy. That cannot be stressed enough. However, if Merriman, both Williams and Dareus stay on the field, it will be a scary sight for opposing quarterbacks no matter if we win or lose.
