The Best Camping Cookware, Cutlery, Camping Plates, Camping Stove, Camping Grill and Camp Kitchen

Updated on April 1, 2011

Camping and hiking are the best way to explore the great outdoors, there is something special about being at one with nature, back when we were hunter gatherers we developed basic survival skills that meant we could eat, keep warm and stay safe.

Fortunately today we no longer have to forage; we simply need to visit the local camping store to get all we need to survive in the wild. There is such an array of camping products that it can be confusing which ones you need and which you don't. In this article which is part of a set of camping product reviews we will look at camping cookware, camp stoves, camping cutlery, camping grills, and camp kitchens.

What kind of camper are you?

The first thing you need to decide is what kind of camping you are going to do, this will dictate the equipment you need. One thing to bare in mind is that weight is your enemy; never carry what you don't need.

If you are backpacking alone then you need to be able to carry your camping equipment comfortably, lightweight tent, waterproof clothing and basic cooking facilities. If however you are taking the family in a vehicle then you can take more elaborate camping equipment, if you are staying on a campsite then make use of their facilities rather than carrying them with you.

One of the most common mistake us campers make; especially in the early stages is to literally take all the comforts of home with us; most of which we will not need and does remove some of the fun from camping.

The best advice is to buy specially designed camping equipment as they are usually weight conscious, designed for multi purpose use and will last longer in the wild.

Buy Camp fire Cookware

Whether you will be starting a campfire or using a full camping kitchen there is a camp cookware set for you.

These cookware sets have evolved over many years and are much more practical in the great outdoors than the cookware you would use at home.

  • Lightweight
  • Shatterproof
  • Easy Washable
  • Flameproof
  • Hygienic
  • Compact
  • Ergonomically designed
  • Easily Transportable
  • Single Backpack Set
  • Full Family Set

Buying the right cookware before you venture outdoors will save you time, heartache and in the long term money; there are no shops in the woods so invest in a good cookware set before you leave.

Buy Camping Dishes and Utensils

Taking your best china in to the woods is not really a good idea, not least because it will probably only last one trip.

It doesn't really matter whether you are backpacking, in a caravan or trailer; choosing the right camping dinner set is an important consideration.

There are many specially designed sets on the market and here are the key points to consider before you purchase your camping dinner set:

  • Weight
  • Material
  • Durability
  • Hygiene

The best materials have been used in these camping sets and include:

  • Enamel
  • Aluminium
  • UPVC

Any other type of plates and bowls will be more trouble than they are worth and will let you down out in the field.

Seven Campfire Recipes

Camping Stove

Most people will set off camping and trekking without even thinking about cooking, a little planning will make your trip so much more fun.

These items have developed over many years out of necessity, general household cooking materials and utensils do not last out in the wild. Treat yourself and have a couple of things less to worry about, buy your camping cookware and utensils before you go.
