Former Los Angeles Lakers beat writer, future screenwriter, and currently enjoying writing about the amazing superstars of the WWE!

When it comes to being a true superstar in the WWE, one has to have that special something instilled within themselves to draw an entire audience in. They need to know how to push buttons and irritate the fans, but then they also need to know how to make their character change and entertain fans as a successful face, as well. Carmella has recently shown the WWE Universe how she is the absolute perfect example of just that.

Have you been confused about why Mella keeps telling us that she's money? Well, I'm about to explain the reasons why she truly is.

The WWE Draft in 2016 was an incredibly exciting time for the WWE Universe as Raw and SmackDown Live were filling in their rosters for the upcoming years to come. The very last pick of that draft for SmackDown Live was none other than Carmella. Knowing that fact, the Princess of Staten Island had something to prove right off the bat, and she took full advantage of that opportunity to do so.

Carmella's First Fights and Feuds

In her first match on the main roster, she tapped out one of the greatest women superstars to ever step foot in the WWE and submission specialist herself, Natalya. This win catapulted Carmella's confidence to the point where it brought her into a massive feud with the one and only Nikki Bella.

The rivalry with Nikki was, in my estimation, one of the most underrated feuds in the history of women's wrestling. A new and upcoming female superstar attempting to make a name for herself facing off against a woman just returning from a serious neck injury after an entire year away from the WWE. It got personal, it became intriguing, and it was completely entertaining. Carmella made every single member of the WWE Universe believe that she was indeed the real deal each time she got the best of the incomparable Nikki Bella—either physically or on the mic—and it was the perfect way to start the first year of her WWE career.

The feud was capped off at the TLC pay-per-view a few months later when the two women battled it out in a No-Disqualification match. Although Nikki came out victorious that night with the use of a fire extinguisher, Carmella's fire was FAR from being put out. It was only just getting started....

When Mella Became Money

When the first ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match was announced, the WWE Universe was completely ecstatic. Knowing that the women of WWE were making history yet again was something every fan was proud of and excited to witness. Each one of those fans had their favorite to win the briefcase with the majority of them thinking either Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch would come out on top.

They were all unbelievably rattled when the Fabulous One moon-walked her way back to the locker room, with briefcase in hand, after defeating the likes of Flair, Lynch, Natalya, and Tamina Snuka. Not only did the win guarantee Carmella a future opportunity at the SmackDown Live women's title, it gave her validation and a moment that proved all her haters wrong.

For ten whole months, Carmella held onto that briefcase, just waiting for the perfect moment to strike and plant herself on top of the mountain. That moment finally happened when The IIconics, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay viciously attacked the SmackDown Live women's champion at the time, Charlotte Flair, and history was then made.

The very last pick in the WWE Draft was now able to call herself the champion.

Let The Mellabrations Begin!

Winning your first title in the WWE can be an incredibly humbling experience. Knowing that you've defied the odds, overcame obstacles, and climbed your way to the very top can make you somewhat vulnerable.

Not Carmella.

The Princess of Staten Island became one of the best antagonists in this generation of the WWE. She made sure that every single fan KNEW exactly why she was the best thing going, why she was the SmackDown Live women's champion, and quite simply, why she was MONEY.

A plethora of "boo's" would crash all around Carmella every night as she boastfully held up the title in everyone's faces, knowing there was nothing that anyone can do about it. She would even conduct "Mellabrations" just to throw extra salt on the wound, igniting the WWE Universe to "boo" her even more.

In my eyes, Carmella was one of the best "bad guys" the WWE had at that time. Every moment she had a microphone in her hand, aggravating everyone watching her, made me realize just how 'fabulous' of a superstar she really was. She made the fans absolutely despise her and become so disgusted with her to the point where they wished she would lose her title as soon as humanly possible. That's EXACTLY what a good "bad guy" in the professional wrestling business does!

By defeating the likes of Charlotte Flair (TWICE!) and The Empress of Tomorrow Asuka during her reign as champion, it further helped people understand a whole lot more why Mella was absolutely, positively, one-hundred percent Money.

A Whole New Carmella Emerges

After her title reign was officially over, the WWE Universe started to see a different side of Carmella. A few run-ins with the happy-go-lucky superstar named R-Truth happened backstage and all of sudden, a new popular duo in the WWE was formed.

It's no secret that R-Truth has been one of the most lovable superstars of all time, but as I stated earlier, Carmella was one of the biggest antagonists in recent memory. How could the WWE Universe out of nowhere start loving her? THAT'S the power of having R-Truth by your side. Who ever thought that this pairing would be something special that the WWE Universe needed in their lives?!

The amount of joy and happiness these two have given out to the WWE Universe, of all ages, is completely remarkable. There's only one word that comes to mind when thinking about them on my television screen together. That word is...MAGIC.

Wait a minute....

Hold on....

Something's happening....

DANCE BREAK!

Carmella has now emerged as a fan-favorite who puts smiles on everyone's face each time she's on our television screens. It goes to show you how much talent she possesses when, in just a few months, she goes from a hated antagonist that fans wanted to see get beaten up to a beloved superstar that those same fans now root for and dance with.

Thank you, Carmella, for knowing exactly what being a WWE superstar is ALL about. To be able to pull off the character switch that you have this year is something not many can do. My respect for you on that thought alone is at its highest level possible. Although I thoroughly enjoyed your antagonizing persona, what you're doing right now alongside Truth is something unbelievably special. It's innovative, it's refreshing, and it's undeniably entertaining.

I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the moon-walkin', trash-talkin', dance-breakin', Princess of Staten Island. I know it will be nothing short of FABULOUS!

What has been YOUR favorite Carmella moment?
