Copa Mundial

Updated on May 26, 2009

The great Copa Mundial

I have always been a huge fan of the fantastic game of Football. Just to clear things up I am talking about the thing Americans call soccer. For as long as I can remember I have played football both with friends and in organized forms. For those of you who don't play football, you don't know what you are missing. The game is full of action, contains both a big picture and a lot of details and it is a magnificent scene to make friends.

The only tool that is really necessary for footballers is the shoes. And as most people understand, the shoes are really important for the players as it is the shoes that will be the link between the players and the ball. The game isn't called football for nothing. However, a football shoe can be a lot of different things. You can get shoes made from synthetic materials, made with natural leather, with long studs, with short studs, with a flat sole and a lot of other variations.

In the later years the marked for football shoes has exploded with new models. The recent revolution with using synthetic materials has made choosing shoes a very difficult thing. The new synthetic materials are usually not as heavy as the good old leather shoes. Especially among the young players, these shoes are very popular. There is a problem though. The shoes will not expand to fit the player’s foot in the same way as the leather shoes does. So if a player doesn’t fit a synthetic shoe once he tries them, they will never fit him.

For these player, and others who just don't like synthetic shoes, there is only one option. Leather shoes. These shoes take the shape of the foot after some use. But what leather shoe should a player choose? This is a tough question to answer, but there is one shoe that every player should consider. The Copa Mundial.

Copa Mundial is a shoe that Adidas designed in 1979 with the intention of making it the official shoe of the World Championship in 1982. The shoe was actually the first shoe that had a molded sole. These days almost every shoe uses molded shoes.

It should say something about the shoe that it still is one of the top sellers on the marked after 30 years in production. As mentioned the shoes has a molded sole that is perfect for playing on dry and hard grass pitches and on soft artificial grass. The upper shoe is made from 100 per cent kangaroo leather. This makes it form easy after the foot and very easy to break in.

My own experience with this shoe is just fantastic. I have used them for several years, and after trying other models I have always returned to Copa Mundial. For me no other shoe can even come close to giving me both the comfort and the control that Copa Mundial gives me.

Following the success of Copa Mundial, Adidas has made the shoe for several other uses. The "World Cup" shoe is in fact Copa Mundial with longer studs and is perfect for wet grass pitches. The "Mundial Team" is the edition who is for gravel and clay pitches and the "Mundial Goal" is for indoor use. So this is in fact a shoe that you can get comfortable with and use on all surfaces. It is a great advantage because you don’t have to adapt to new shoe if you switch between surfaces often.

Another advantage is the price. Copa Mundial is in fact a lot cheaper than other top shoes. Compared to Adidas Predator Powerswerve and Nike Mercurial Vapor it is only half the price.
