Updated on August 28, 2010

Top Ten Darkhorse National Title Contenders

We already know about the teams that are favored to win a national title (Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas, Boise State, Virginia Tech and TCU).  These teams are ranked low or my not even be ranked at all but have the talent and a great schedule to make some noise this year.  For example, the 2000 Oklahoma team that went undefeated and won the title that year started ranked #20 in the nation.  In 2008 Alabama started the year ranked #24 before going undefeated in the regular season and ranked #1 for eight weeks before losing in the SEC Title Game to Florida and losing to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.  Last year's Cincinnati team started the year at #23 in the country, the Bearcats went undefeated in the regular season before getting smashed by Florida in the Sugar Bowl last year 51-24.  So here are ten teams that have the talent and schedule to win it all.  These teams will at one point will be in the national title conversation.
