3 Steps To Firearms Malfunctions
Hello hubbers !
Welcome back to e-instructors.hubpages.com. Today we are going to be talking about firearms malfunctions and how to clear them.
But first let's briefly revise the 5 Firearms Safety Rules.
1-TREAT ALL WEAPONS AS IF THEY ARE LOADED
2-NEVER POINT AT ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
3-ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO FIRE
4-KEEP YOUR WEAPON ON SAFE UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON TARGET
5-ALWAYS KNOW WHAT IS IN FRONT OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEHIND IT
If your prefer gun of choice is a semi-auto, the rule is " TAP, RACK and BANG" where you strike the mag with the heel of your hand, re-chamber the next round, and fire. With a revolver, it's usually a matter of just trying the next round with a second trigger pull, which then turns the cylinder.
At a shooting range only point the gun downrange and eject the shell, either by pulling the slide back and letting the round drop to the ground, or re-racking the slide depending on the situation.
It's very important to check if there is no round stuck in the barrel by locking the slide open and looking down the barrel from the breech and never with the muzzle facing upright position.
And again with a revolver, it's usually a matter of just trying the next round with another pull, which then turns the cylinder.
Sometimes you may have to listen for unusual sound and obstructions. Please DO NOT try to short cut the safety rules at any time and be aware of your surrounding.
Remember that "gun kills and knowledge is power"
