Fantasy Basketball Rankings 2015-2016

Updated on October 16, 2015

The streak was in mortal peril. In twelve years I’d never finished worse than second place in any fantasy basketball league and after one dreary weekend that summoned for an unhealthy dosage of drafts to fill the void, the streak was all but over. The buffoonery ballooned my normal number of three into twenty- four leagues, drowning under the sea.

What started as a father son activity in high school quickly led to an obsession as our utter dominance buoyed extra attention to the sport, meaning watching boatloads of NBA league pass. In college I picked up a second league that I won the first six years before losing in the last two and also a third league that I play with some close friends who have yet to beat me in half a decade. All the while the streak was surviving and seeming unbreakable. .

It ended for me, but at least my dad still holds the claim. Although undeniably impressive it was also undoubtedly a lame thing to brag about. One pesky roto league branded me with the third place stigma after a brutal finish, falling from first to third on the final night. Curiosity of the roto realm is what started the binging and ended up coming back to haunt me. Roto leagues are extremely taxing and require too much careful planning and speculation because of the restriction of games allowed per position. As a result my teams were running out of games by the end of the year and squandering stellar Westbrook performances or Harden 40-burgers.

Eventually the bubble was bound to burst, hopefully now this doesn't trigger some sort of 4th place catastrophe. It’s wise to return back to my shell with just the three leagues and maintain this current stranglehold over my friends for as long as possible, or until they kick me out. Fortunately fantasy basketball relies on luck significantly less than their richer more beloved peer fantasy football, or perhaps it's just that I’m not good at fantasy football.

Amidst the frenzy of the past year a chain was forged, I’m now a fantasy maester. Here are my rankings for 2015-2016:
