"Money" Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather won a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics and as a professional boxer he won championships in 5 weight classes. His final ring record stands at: 49-0 with 26 knockouts. A master boxer with speed of hand and foot as well as great accuracy on his shots and counter punches. On defense, Mayweather is considered one of the best defensive boxers in boxing history. Mayweather has taken on all comers and he can adjust to any style. With all do respect, it is not likely that an athlete from another sport can enter boxing with zero pro bouts and beat a legendary boxer such as Mr. Mayweather. You never know but sometimes you do. Mismatch in the making.

"Notorious"

Conor McGregor is the only UFC fighter to hold titles in two different weight classes at the same time. McGregor is the current featherweight and lightweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. As of 2017, McGregor boast a record that reads: 21-3 with 18 stoppage victories on his ledger. His style of fighting is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo and boxing. Conor McGregor's best fighting style is stand up and he uses his hands as much or more than his feet to score his knockouts. He is a tenacious fighter and he has, at times, a high work rate which at least gives him a small, very small chance at upsetting the undefeated prizefighter from Michigan. Let's just hope Conor Mac can remember to just use his gloved fists and leave the soles of his feet on the canvas.

What's the Verdict?

If Floyd Mayweather ever fights Conor McGregor in a boxing ring, under boxing rules, what would happen?

Squared Circle vs The Cage

Floyd Mayweather would have a huge advantage if the 2 men fought, mainly because the bout would be inside a boxing ring and under boxing rules.

Build Up/ Promotion

The build up to hype this boxing match would be out of this world. Floyd loves to get under his opponents skin with certain things he says and Conor McGregor does the same thing. 'Pretty Boy" Floyd knows how to keep his composure but Mr. McGregor is quick to lose his cool and act a fool. Mayweather lives for all the drama so whatever McGregor says or does will be irrelevant. As far as McGregor goes I am not really sure. One thing I do know is that both of these guys are professionals and all the hype should not affect either fighter once the opening bell rings.

Weigh In

The weigh in would be a sell out and probably even have a fight or two erupt in the crowd. Both fighters would come out with music and their entourage and of course strip down and step on the scales. The fun would occur at the final face off when the two are face to face doing a stare down for the cameras. If either man touches the other with hands than a fight could break out. As the two warriors stand nose to nose, they jaw back and forth talking big time smack. Security separates the athletes before it goes to far.

Final Press Conference

All the trash talk is at its highest level. This press conference will be enough smack talk to make Muhammad Ali blush. I envision both fighters showing extreme confidence and I also see Floyd Mayweather being somewhat quite after already winning the war of words during the pre-fight promotion. On the other hand, McGregor is at his raunchy best as he launches insults at Mayweather and his team. Mayweather looks comfortable and confident. McGregor looks uncomfortable yet very confident.

Kings of Trash Talking

These two guys are great self promoters and with both in the same room the tensions will be running wild.

The Fight

The crowd goes wild as Conor comes to the ring and it is obvious that he has the most fans in attendance. Next Floyd comes out to a chorus of cheers and boos. If Floyd Mayweather participated in a match in the octagon, McGregor would dominate and win easily more than likely. This bout, however, is in a boxing ring.

The bell sounds for round one and McGregor rushes in and is met with a double jab and a clinch. McGregor swings wildly and misses and Mayweather counters with a left hook. Mayweather then leaps in with a lead right hand that lands on the Irishman's jaw, dropping him on his back. McGregor arises on wobbly legs as Mayweather comes forward. Mayweather misses with a lead right and McGregor lands a left hook on the inside bringing the crowd to their feet as the bell sounds to end the round. Mayweather wins the 1st round 10-8.

In the second McGregor goes for broke after losing the first heat so badly. Big mistake. Mayweather lands counter rights and lefts as McGregor hits gloves, elbows and air. Finally, after taking several clean jabs, McGregor lands a grazing right hand but misses with a follow right hand. Near the end of the second round, McGregor throws a jab which Mayweather counters with a right hand pull counter and as it lands, Mayweather lands another accurate right hand that sends McGregor face first to the canvas. McGregor, somehow, gets to his feet at the count of 8 but pitches forward into the referees arms and the fight is waved off. Mayweather wins the fight by 2nd round knockout.

Aftermath

Floyd Mayweather talked to the commentator first and he actually praises Conor for taking a boxing match when he fights in a totally different sport. McGregor embraced Mayweather and after the hug he left for the hospital without doing an interview. Mayweather once again retires while McGregor rest in the hospital nursing a broken jaw plotting his next career move.
