Are You Ready for some Football?!?

Updated on August 1, 2013

“…You’re not to miss practice, unless you’re DEAD!”, old football Coach saying

Football has arrived just about everywhere my friends!

The fresh smell of cut grass on many football fields is in the air, and...Yes! That time of the year is right around the corner.

High School Football on Fridays, College Football on Saturdays and NFL Football on Sundays…and Mondays…and sometimes Thursdays, too.

It’s a free-for-all and if you’re a Football Fan there’s going to be a game on for you to watch somewhere, regardless of your allegiances.

And it’s time for me, again, to enjoy my All-Time favorite Football movies. The fact that I have these movies and probably watched each one them over one hundred times or memorized every line does not take anything away from the experience.

Would you stop rooting for your favorite team just because is a new season? No!, right? You’re a fan and you bleed the colors.

Now on to my own personal, and in no particular order, Favorites!

  • Friday Night Lights ~ Football in Texas is a religion and for these High School Students there’s overwhelming pressure, not just to win, but to win State!

It's brutal the pressure these kids have to play under.

Plus the character Boobie Miles reminds me of the Marcus Dupree Story on ESPN Classics' The Best that Never Was. If you don’t know the story of Marcus Dupree, you need to watch it and treat yourself.

  • Remember The Titans ~ This is a true story preached by Coach Herman Boone ( Denzel Washington) that sends out a message about racial equality during very, very turbulent times. An entire community finds one common bond, Football!

It does not matter the way another man looks.

  • Playmakers ~ I own this Three Disc Set for no larger reason than the NFL and the PowersThat Be pressured ESPN to take this dramatic series off the air years ago because it painted players and owners in a negative, but realistic, light.

It just does my heart good every time I watch it...just thinking that maybe some NFL executive that grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, might be out there getting piss off somewhere knowing that I'm plugging a show they had ban from Television years ago.

Well done, I agree with a lot of your points. I think that the Jets defense is good enough to keep them in games and if they can establish a ground attack they may be a wildcard team possibly. I think that the ship in Minnesota is sinking faster than the Titanic and we are all now looking at Adrain Peterson as remeber this Titan.I am very anxious about the start of this football season.

I enjoyed reading this hub. I like your two football movies and one football tv series you listed. As for your capsule reviews off the off season.

I think many teams were willing to make Peyton their starting QB...the Jets, 49ers, Titans, Cardinals, Dolphins and of course the Broncos.....I think so far he is looking pretty good a little rusty but I think he will be fired up when the Steelers come to town.

I think the Tebow/Sanchez QB struggle will be the only thing that keeps the Jets in the papers...this is not a good team....the defense is getting older, no WRs(S. Holmes is overratted) and Tebow fever will only get hotter if the Jets start off slowly.

I think the Saints will be fine....I think the Jaguars will be bad on propose owner wants his franchise in a better market....all home games in London or Los Angeles by 2016. A. Peterson glory days are behind him.

Lots of thought provoking ideas in this hub...voted up and shared.

I think this hub is so well done. However I absolutely not like football, but my husband will be glued to the TV. Actually I read this for that reason. So you are a success in my book.
