FHS Wrestling Seniors
On Tuesday, January 20th three young men were honored for their dedication to the wrestling program at Forbush High School.
Tanner Couch was escorted by his mother, Misty Couch. Tanner jokingly stated, "I will not miss having to cut weight" as he was presented his medal. Tanner will complete his education at Forbush High School this year and then enter the Automotive Technology program at Surry Community College.
Tyler Hailey was escorted by his parents, Jimmy and Ginger Hailey. Tyler plans to attend Cape Fear Community College and study Marine Technology.
Tyler Mitchell was escorted by his dad, Chris and stepmom, Karen. Tyler remembered back to a proud moment when he finished 3rd in a tournament in Statesville. Tyler plans to join the Army after graduation.
On the night, these three guys all contributed wins to help their team defeat the Eagles of Surry Central. Tyler Mitchell's match was intense as he scored a late takedown to secure the points for his team.
On behalf of the wrestling team and Forbush High School, we appreciate your hard work and dedication. Good luck to you for the remainder of your matches and in your future endeavors.
Tanner With The Pin
Against West Stokes, Tanner was able to pin his opponent to help the team knockoff West Stokes and secure 3rd position in the conference. North Surry and South Stokes are currently the top two teams in the conference.
Tyler Warms Up
A lot of wrestling is preparation. Seniors such as Tyler Mitchell are used to a set routine to get in the mindset for the match. Tyler warms up to prepare for his match against the Smith wrestler.
Seniors are seasoned athletes. Tyler Hailey has seen a lot of different techniques during his four years at Forbush High School. Being able to adjust quickly allows Tyler to take full control of his opponent at Carver.
