Get an Odyssey Jumbo Grip!!

Putting the ball wasn't the strongest suit while taking lessons and cutting my teeth on the greens over the past couple weeks. It just didn't go the way I expected. The grip on my putter was old and dry so I couldn't get a good grip on it. Not good. When I putted, the putter would slightly roll to one side making the putt veer off. It was very frustrating. While in Golfsmith checking out some new fun stuff a couple weeks ago, I studied the various grips and tried several putters in the demo area that had larger hand grips. The wide grip putters were much easier to hold and control.

The Odyssey Jumbo Putter grip is designed to help eliminate excessive wrist movement during the putting stroke.

Keep Your Head Down Until....

As I learned in lesson three, moving my head before the ball leaves the putter will cause the ball to veer to the left or right too. So I need all the help I can get to straighten out my putt. Since I was in Golfsmith already for golf balls, it was a good opportunity to purchase a new grip for my putter. I chose a Jumbo grip by Odyssey. My husband liked it so much, he got one too. Now if I can just stop turning my head before the ball leaves the putter, I am set.

Watching the Grip Replacement in the Workshop

The professional helping us at Golfsmith replaced our putter grips as we watched. It was very interesting. He cut down the side of the old grip with a box cutter and ripped it right off. He then put a piece of tape over the area on the shaft to receive the grip and soaked it down with a special liquid. This liquid will cause the grip to slide on and adhere quickly. He slid the new grip right onto the shaft and aligned it nicely. Tadaa! New grip was on the putter and ready to putt in less than 10 minutes.

So How Did I Do The first Time Out On The Greens

It was great putting when playing the last 18 holes, I state without hesitation. The feel of the larger grip was much more comfortable and controlled. I highly recommend trying it out the Odyssey Jumbo Grip.
