That's approximately 40 minutes South of Brisbane, and 25 minutes North of Surfers Paradise. Dreamworld was the first theme park to be built on the Gold Coast. It is home to some of the tallest and fastest thrill rides in the world today. Hdre's just some of the many attractions and rides available. It's a great day out packed with fun for the whole family from the little ones to teenagers and the young at heart!

Most Popular Rides

Dreamworld boast some of the biggest thrill rides in Australia. Rides such as the Giant Drop, Buzz Saw and the Tower of Terror are among the most popular.

Family oriented rides which are great for all ages and highly recommended for young children and grand parents alike which include River Rapids and the old favourite Log Ride.

Young children are especially well catered for with the ever popular Wiggles World to entertain them. There's special fun for them with a ride in the famous Big Red Car.

Dreamworld is also home to movie characters such as big Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, Puss in Boots and Madagascar which will leave the kids excited and amazed.

Gold Coast Accommodation

If you are looking for accommodation that is close to Dreamworld and the other Theme Parks you should look around the Helensvale area. All the Parks are located within a 10 min drive of Helensvale.

The Gold Coast does accommodation options extremely well. There's everything available from Backpackers right through to 5 star luxury waterfront hotels at places like Pelazzo Versace at Main Beach.

If you are on a tight budget the hostel or backpackers option might be perfect but do expect that you will probably be sharing a room with strangers. Some have private single/double rooms available but they are usually snapped up pretty quickly, particularly in popular spots like the Gold Coast region.

Where is Dreamworld?

History of Dreamworld

The land on which Dreamworld now stands was purchased by the founder John Longhurst in 1974. Mr Longhurst vision was 7 years in the making and Dreamworld finally opened its doors on December 15, just in time for the Holiday Season in 1981.

Now more than 30 years later Dreamworld and its sister theme park White Water World located 'next door', are hosts to some 80,000 happy school children every year!

White Water World was opened next door to Dreamworld in 2006 at a cost of $60million. Together the 2 parks combine to implement cutting edge environmental and conservation initiatives for sustainable tourism.

The popularity of the Dreamworld made it necessary for the park to commence 7 day trading in 1984 and in 1987 Kenny Koala was judged Australia's 'most outstanding character'.

Through the years Dreamworld continued to expand, then in 1991 the Australian Listed Public Company: Macquarie Leisure Trust acquired the venture.

Further rapid expansion took place which saw many new rides added together with the hosting of 8 consecutive Big Brother TV series live from Dreamworld.

From white knuckle thrill rides to focused attention on wildlife with more than 800 Australian native animals, Dreamworld has something to offer everyone. It is now one of the most comprehensive and popular theme parks in Australia, and is world class standard. Highly recommended!
