Guilford Hits Jackpot with Yale Signing
Savannah Yale made it official with Guilford College for the upcoming 2015-2016 season. She will join players from Pennsylvania, Virginia and California on the Quakers' roster in the ODAC.
Savannah began her softball career in the second grade at Yadkinville Elementary School. From that point until now, Yale has played at every level. Currently, she is the starting second baseman for the Falcons that boast a 20-1 record on the year. Savannah also plays for the Charlotte Magic Elite, coached by Jeff Stoval of Marvin Ridge High School.
Yale was approached by several schools during the recruitment process, but chose Guilford College as the place where she would make her contribution. When asked why she chose Guilford Yale replied, "I wanted to play softball in college, but not at the expense of my education."
She went on to add, "After much consideration and prayer, I feel Guilford is where God has lead me to attend and further my education and softball career at the next level. I am very excited about next year's season but not before I finish my work at FHS with my awesome and very talented team who remains committed to "One Team, One Goal"."
No one can argue with her logic. God, academics and softball. This Falcon has her head on straight.
Academically, Savannah is an honor student. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. She is also the secretary of the Junior Civitan Club and a FHS Yearbook editor. As a member of the Falcons softball team Yale was selected as an All-Conference and All-District performer in 2014.
Coach Dennis Shores of the Quakers praised Yale's decision to pursue her academics at Guilford College. He continued, "I am just thrilled to have Savannah with us next year at Guilford, and I expect good things from her both academically and athletically."
This coach is humble, but he knows he scored big with the signing of Yale. Congratulations, Savannah Yale and thanks for representing Forbush High School!

Coach Rachel Davis was Savannah's coach from freshman to junior year. Coach Davis stepped down last year to be with her daughter, but has followed the team closely this season. Yale is one of the reasons why. You can stop coaching, but it is impossible to stop caring.
Coach Helton took over for Coach Davis, and in his first year has seen the value in Yale. She is solid in the field at second base, and she is a versatile hitter at the plate.
This picture tells the story of Savannah Yale. After hitting a home run to help her team garner the victory she tries to avoid the camera. Not concerned with the credit, just the results.
