Hoops Action vs Eagles

Updated on February 9, 2015

Bottle This Effort

Every coach would want to bottle the energy and effort of a senior on senior night. Shannon Holden was that senior for the Falcons. She was all over the court in the early going; stealing passes and grabbing rebounds.

Shannon's teammates fed off of her energy as the Lady Falcons jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game. The Eagles stayed alive from the free throw line as the Falcons picked up five quick fouls. The Falcons held that lead until the one minute mark of the 1st quarter when the Eagles took their first lead by a score of 12-11.

The lead switched hands for the next two quarters. The Falcons lead 19-16 in the 2nd quarter, and it was all square at 27 points in the 3rd quarter. The Falcons held a 30-28 lead with two minutes left in the 3rd quarter, but the Falcon offense turned cold. The Eagles ran off six straight points to take a 34-30 lead. The Falcons pushed furiously throughout the entire fourth quarter to no avail as the Eagles pulled away for a 48-36 victory.

The loss takes the Falcons out of contention for the conference championship, however the team will receive the 3rd playoff spot from the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference. Forbush has one conference game remaining in the regular season as it travels to North Surry on Tuesday. Then, the Falcons will participate in the conference tournament.
