How to save money on snowboard equipment

Updated on December 20, 2009

Save on snowboard gear!

Buying New

The best way to save on gear is to shop around in the spring or summer as all stores are looking to clear out their inventory fast to make room for all the summer inventory. So prices are as low as there going to get on new equipment. Check your favorite sites, they will usually have sales events advertised.

Also this site always seems to have the best pricing on-line.  Don't worry, I don't work for them or get paid by them they just have really good prices.

Buying Used

Another is to check out your local classifieds such as This is especially useful if you're going to pick up gear for kids who are still growing. You can buy then sell the gear and repeat from year to year. When buying a used snowboard just make sure there are no core shots (see the inside of the board through the base). Even if the board looks rough or dry a fresh wax and tune can make a world of difference.

If your going to buy boots used go to your local store try on the same brand (doesnt have to be the same style) and size you are looking at buying. Then go pick up your boots from your local classifieds with the confidence of knowing they will fit.
