All The Frills Of the "Pro Qualifier" Reel - But Lighter!

Many of you have read my review on the Bass Pro Qualifier Baitcast reel, and fallen in love with the wildly popular reel, now affordably priced at just $79.99. But if you're looking for a reel that has all the features and benefits of the Qualifier reel, in a lighter frame - then the CarbonLite series is your choice.

Crafted from a solid one-piece machined aircraft-grade aluminum frame fused with carbon fibers, the reel weighs an astonishing 5.9 ounces - which is extremely light and enjoyable for the angler who fishes all day. There will be no fisherman's fatigue from this reel, if paired with an equally lightweight rod, like the CarbonLite series rod.

The rod features "duralumin" gears, shaft, and spool, which means they are both durable and lightweight in construction. Some reel manufacturers do not consider the weight of the inter-workings of such devices, and skimp on the use of high-grade lightweight materials. Bass Pro Shops gets it right with this design, as it simply wouldn't make sense to NOT use this aircraft grade aluminum throughout it's design.

  • One-piece machined aircraft-grade frame
  • Duralumin gears and shaft
  • V-grooved, ported, machined Duralumin spool
  • 10 stainless steel, double-shielded ball bearings

  • Drag system with six alternating carbon fiber and stainless washers
  • Available Gear Ratios: 7.1:1 >> 6:4:1 >> 5:4:1

Dual Braking System: Magnetic & Centrifical

The reel is super smooth as it has the signature dual braking system, that was so popular with the Pro Qualifier Reels. The design incorporates both a magnetic braking system, and a centrifugal braking system. Both systems work in complete harmony to eliminate backlashes and bird nests. The incorporation of 10 stainless steel ball bearings, also contributes to the overall smoothness of the reel.

Note: Some reel owners have reported a "rough spot" in the reel, after an approximate year of owning the reel and heavy use. While most users reportedly love the reel - I did feel it necessary to at least inform you of this issue.

Overall Excellent Reel

Overall the reel operates quite nicely, and if I had to purchase it again - I would. The reel is very popular and often featured on the Bass Pro Shops website, and advertisements. The regular price of the reel is around $129.99; however, I've see the reel as low as $99.99 on sale.
