Lindsey Vonn - Champion Skier Latest News
Lindsey Vonn Olympic Games
Lindsey Caroline Vonn will compete in the Winter Olympics and will certainly be one of the American athletics that is expected to win in alpine skiing. Her past career is amazing.
There has been controversy over Lindsy's pose on the cover of Sports Illustrated being "too sexy". Usually those criticisms are saved for the swimsuit issue. Women are only featured on their cover about 4-6% of the time. Yes, she has on a a skin tight suit for skiing and is crouched down, but I hardly see that as an objectification of women. It seem much ado about nothing. She's a beautiful girl and she can ski like few others.

Lindsey (Kidrow) Vonn was born in October 18, 1984 in St. Paul, Minnesota and raised in Twin Cities. She was on skies by the age of two. She moved into Erick Sailer's renowned development program at Buck Hill. .
In her early career she became the first American to at Italy's Trofeo Topolino for skiers age 11-14. After moving up the ranks of the U S Ski Team she made her World Cup debut at age 16. It has all been uphill from there. In 2004, Vonn was the downhill silver medalist at the U S Alpine Championship held in Jackson, Wyoming. In December of that year she claimed the World Cup for downhill victory in Alberta, then went on to win 5 more World Cups.
Unfortunately in winter 2006, at the Olympics she crashed while training and was helicoptered to the nearest hospital where she was hospitalized overnight. Despite a bruised hip she competed and came in 8th. She earned the U S Olympic Spirit Award for this tragedy. She's won numerous other awards and again won the World Cup in 2008, and is only the second woman to achieve this goal. She has exceeded in breaking the fastest records over other champion skiers.
She has suffered injuries and fought on continuously. In December, 2009, she fell and sustained a bruised wrist, but no break, however, she has continued to train with her arm in a brace, and has won 3 more races. This places her in second place among American skiers on the all time career list for World Cups with 28 wins, passing Phil Mahre (27 wins). She married fellow Olympian and former US Ski Team athlete Thomas Vonn on September 29, 2007.
She is under scrutiny by other coaches about her injury and her weight, She is 5'10" tall at 160 pounds of pure muscle. That sounds fine considering her height. She is reported to be handling all this scrutiny with ease and says the scrutiny motivates her.. After all, other coaches hardly have her best interest at heart. Plus, she just skied in Austria and was on top her game. The US Olympic Team is expecting her to be a winner.
As for the people that think her picture is too sexy, I saw grow up! Jealousy may be the root in the naysayers hearts that make these asinine remarks.
