Longines Masters Brings Its Elegance and Horses to New York
Imagine having Olympic veterans right in your backyard. Well, that's what's happening here in New York where the Longines Masters New York has opened it's doors for the second year in a row at the famous Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York.
For my first day I decided to capture pictures of the setting up and return to get the action for the remainder of the weekend. Without a doubt when you walk around the concourse and look at the arena it's clear that Longines is all about putting on a great show.
It was a quiet first afternoon on Thursday, April 26 as vendors set up the displays and riders got used to the beautiful indoor arena. Everywhere you went it spoke of elegance and a world class event bringing the nations top horses and riders to New York.
This is just the beginning as the riders gear up with their horses for the main event of the weekend. The Masters is a triple crown series that takes places in both Paris and Hong Kong and then culminates in New York.
The Grand Slam series features two levels of prizes. The Super Grand Slam gives a bonus of 2.25 million euros for winning three consecutive Longines Grand Prix in the same season. The Grand Slam boasts a pot of 1 million Euros for three successive victories from one season to the next.
It's happening through Sunday, April 28. If you live in New York or want to take a drive or flight, it's worth the visit. For more information and a schedule visit their website at www.longinesmasters.com.
