Mets' Matz Shutouts Pittsburgh 3-0. Conforto and J.D. Davis Homer
The underachieving Mets (49-55) blanked the Pirates at Citi Field 3-0. Lefty Steven Matz pitched a complete game, 5-hit shutout while fanning 7 batters. He improves to 6-6 on the season.

The trade deadline is just 4 days away and there's already trade discussions regarding involving Noah Syndergaard. That would be big news. The Mets are believed to be seeking two top prospectrs as well as an everyday player in return for Thor who is 7-5 on the season with a 4.33 ERA. Lifetime he's 44-27 with a 3.21 ERA.
Likely to be traded is Zach Wheeler (7-6, 4.71) who made is 1st start since coming off the IL and went 5 1/3rd innings allowing 3 runs while fanning 7 batters in the Mets 6-3 win on Friday night vs. the Pirates. Wheeler and fellow starter Jason Vargas are both free agents in 2020. Syndergaard is under the Mets control until 2021.
Despite winning two straight over the Pirates the Mets are still 6 games out in the NL Wild Card race behind 6 other teams which means for sure they will be sellers at the trade deadline.
