Motorboat Racing: As Fun As It Gets
Types of Boat Racing
Boat Racing (Spectator)
Racing with boats will take place on some type of water and they take place all over America. Thousands of fans watch and cheer the races. Races take place in lakes, rivers and in the ocean. Fans watch from the beach as the boats rev up. I have watched some races that got quite crazy! Some tournaments allow fans to watch from bleachers or from other boats stationed in the water. Some fans are in the water and some sit near the finish line just like at a car race.
Besides being in person, which is ideal, you can also be a fan occasionally on the television with some sports channels airing motorboat races on their network. ESPN, Fox Sports Net and especially ESPN 2 cover boating sports. With it's increase in popularity the networks started picking it up. At any rate, I would recommend watching a race on television anytime because, if you like it then you will go wild viewing the action live and in your face! With all the big/large screen TV's now, the action is great!

Boat Racing (Participant)
Boat racing can be team racing or it can be a one on one competition. Some races are on a straight path while others go around many twists and turns. Also, some boat races have time limits while other races are from one location to another. If any rules are broken, this will result in an instant disqualification from the race. Never cheat to win and besides safety is more important than anything and that includes winning a competition. It takes much practice to be able to race at top speeds especially in races that have sharp curves and turns.

Types of Boat Racing
Below is a list of the most common Boat Races.
1. Drag Boat Racing: The fastest start and quickest ending of all the races. My personal favorite to watch on T.V. or in person. Although I haven't ever been in a race with a drag boat before.
2. Canoe Racing: In order to win everyone must use all of their arm and shoulder strength until the race is over.
3. Dragon Boat Racing: Like a canoe race except lots more people. Being mentally prepared to work as a team is vital.
4. Kayak Racing: This race has a beginner and an expert bracket to participate in.
5. Jet Sprint Racing: This race can have a driver and co pilot or just a single driver controlling it during their high octane races.
6. Powerboat Racing: Powerboats are very big boats that have a design that is made for ocean travel and it holds waves with ease.
* Other types of boat racing exist to be sure but the ones listed above are the ones that are the most famous as they say.

Boating For Relaxation
Of course, you do not have to race a boat to enjoy the ride. Some boat rides are for fishing, laying out in the sun or just feeling the wind blowing. Whether you are racing or just hitting the water for relaxation always remember that safety is very important. Keep life jackets handy whenever you are on a boat in the open water.
Always plan ahead before riding a boat. Make a list for your trip and mark each item off only as it is loaded onto the boat. You will want to monitor the weather at all times. Depending on where you are, pop up storms may hit hard and fast. Also, If your going to be renting the boat for fishing or touring it is a good idea to book ahead of time to receive any discounts.
Some folks like speed boats but, if you walk to relax, I like a pontoon boat. I only ride it once or twice per year on the lake in the summer but, is is so fun for fishing, tanning and listening to music and relaxing. Fish, listen to music or just cruise up and down the water. It is fun just kick back and feel the sun and the breeze.
Boat Race Locations
Boat races take place all over the world but, in the U.S. certain locations have races all the time. Such as beach areas such as: California, Florida, South Carolina. Of course most states have some form of racing by using the lakes or even rivers with designated areas. I live in Alabama and our beach is Gulf Shores which is the Pacific Ocean that connects to Florida. Constant races, cruises, fishing expeditions and more goes on in the ocean.
Truth be told a boat race can be done in any water even pool water. You can have mini motor boats that are remote controlled and race against an opponent. Winner take all. Some of these racing competitions are one on one or two on two but some really have up to one hundred racers vying for a title, trophy or in some cases sums of cold hard cash.

My Final Thoughts......
First of all to be upfront, I love water in every and all forms and cruising on boats. Therefore, I am biased to a degree so with that in mind, boating is awesome but, the rush of watching or racing on a super fast boat is an adrenaline rush that will never be forgotten. On the other hand, on the television is not near as fun as being right there on the scene.
Do not take my word for it try the different boat racing and see what you think. Surely, you will love the fast races if you are a speed freak or thrill seeker or at the very least they are always great for fishing on the lake or floating on in the ocean blue.
