Iron Mike vs. The Greatest

ROUND 1: Tyson comes out bobbing and weaving past Ali's jab and lands several big overhand rights. Ali smiles and lands a one two but Tyson is relentless. Iron Mike attacks to the body as Ali holds and talks to him. Ali is starting to find his distance but Tyson is in hot pursuit in the early going. Tyson digs a left hook to the ribs and a right elbow to the face during infighting with a minute to go. Ali lands a lead right but takes a bone jarring left hook in return at the bell. Tyson is a raging beast in the early going as expected.

Ali: 9 Tyson: 10

ROUND 2: Ali comes out on his toes snapping hard jabs and landing crisp right hands but Tyson slips in a big overhand right that wobble Muhammad but he fires back with both hands. Tyson lands a solid uppercut followed by a huge left hook to put the Greatest on his butt. Ali gets up at 4 dancing on his toes and the bell rings with Tyson landing a right hook to Ali's rib cage followed by a hard right uppercut, Tyson's favorite combination. Ali looks okay but he took some huge shots during the stanza.

Ali: 8 Tyson: 10

ROUND 3: Tyson inspired by the knockdown rushes Ali who lays on the ropes trying to block the leather with his gloves and arms but some shots are landing. Tyson gets tied up and Ali peppers him with four strait punches out of the clinch. Ali and Tyson both land lead rights but, Ali dances away and lands two jabs as Tyson misses wildly. Ali misses his lead right but lands a hard one two. Iron Mike lands two hooks to the body and an elbow to the head which draws a warning. Tyson then misses a hook as Ali lands a jab and a hook off of it.

Ali: 10 Tyson: 10

ROUND 4: Tyson has not lost a round but he looks tired but, Ali is on his toes throwing fast punches and talking to Tyson. Tyson lands a left hook to the head of Ali but Ali steps back and throws six punches landing four to the head of Tyson. Tyson misses with an overhand right and slips to the floor. As action resumes Ali lands two jabs and misses a right but then ties up Tyson. Out of the clinch, Tyson lands a right to the body but is countered by three lead rights at the bell and staggers back to his corner.

Ali: 10 Tyson: 9

ROUND 5: Ali is starting to really let his hands go as Mike is now lunging with one shot at a time. Tyson lands a hard left hook to the body and to the head but Ali never backs down and lands his own uppercut to back Tyson up. Ali lands 5 shots and it opens a cut over Tyson's eye. Tyson wipes away the blood and throws a desperation hook that grazes Ali but then Ali lands a double jab and a right down the pipe to end he heat.

Ali: 10 Tyson: 9

ROUND 6: Ali comes out on his toes spinning around Tyson snapping jabs and pot shotting Mike with lead rights. Tyson throws a big hook to the body but is pounded along the ropes by a fast four punch flurry to make his nose bleed. Tyson lands a quick jab followed by a hard right and Ali ties him up. Out of the clinch Ali resumes pitching jabs and right hands on target and Tyson is swelling up fast. Tyson lands a hook but Ali on his toeslands three hard right hands and two jabs for good measure. At the bell Tyson goes to the wrong corner.

Ali: 10 Tyson: 9

ROUND 7: Tyson comes out flat footed and Ali does too except Ali is doing iot on purpose. Ali is throwing hard shots now and Tyson is starting to wilt. Tyson lands a hard right on Ali but is hit with 5 out of 6 hard shots thrown by Ali and falls on his trunks. Tyson is up at 7 and Ali pounces throwing caution to the wind. The referee stops the match with Tyson leaned on the ropes with blood flowing from his nose, mouth and eye taking unanswered blows. Tyson was game to the end but Ali just has too many tools for Iron Mike to overcome.

Ali knocks out Tyson in 7 rounds.

* This is just one possible scenario. It's also very possible that Tyson could go the distance and win several rounds. Either way Ali would be too much for Iron Mike. Tyson had a great chin, power, fast hands and very good head movement but Ali had him beat in every area except power and chin and his chin was probably equal to Tyson's.

Dancer vs. Banger

Ali was on a master boxer and Tyson was a master puncher. If the will and the conditioning are equal then the master boxer will beat the slugger 8 out of 10 times in the squared circle.

Tyson could use his power to end fights but Ali could use his speed of hand and foot to land and evade shots of his own. Both boxers have concrete chins and an amazing ability to absorb punishment.

      I absolutely love both fighters....think it's a tie between them as the greatest edge....I would give Tyson the win... As Ali liked to put his hands down & take a lot if unnecessary punches. With Tyson's power, he probably would have gotten his jaw broken like he did against Ken Norton.

      Thanks. I like Tyson's style but Ali had superior skills and th chin and heart to survive Iron Mikes 6 round onslaught.

      Nice visualization on the round by round. Easy to picture it happening exactly as you describe!
