Wild Week in the NFL

We had some very interesting games in week 11 of the NFL season. I found myself struggling on some of the rankings this week, but I had to go with current records. Teams like the Bears and Houston may end up slipping with their starting quarterbacks likely out for the season. I really struggled putting the Ravens over the Bengals. The Bengals won that game on Sunday but due to an absurd rule a touchdown was called back and the Bengals had to kick a field goal. If that touchdown holds up, they get to kick a field goal for the win at the last second instead of going out on downs in the red zone.

The Giants continued their November ways and are now sitting outside looking in with the hardest remaining schedule in football. Better luck next season I guess. After breaking down each team I ranked everyone as far as where they stand right now, not where they are headed. And here's the list.

Week 12 Power Rankings

Green Bay Packers
The Packers had a scare against the Buc's but prevailed in the end. I'm looking forward to the Thanksgiving day game against the Lions.
San Francisco 49ers
The Niners beat up on Arizona and can clinch the division with a win over Baltimore on Thanksgiving. Brother versus brother should be a good match up
Chicago Bears
This may be the end of the Bears streak, with Jay Cutler out and Caleb Haney in, it's going to be tough sledding in the NFC playoff race. They do play the AFC West, so they should be able to escape with a couple of wins out of their. We'll see what happens.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers had a bye so I have them at the fourth spot. They are an up and down team, but so is the entire AFC. WIth them being the defending champs, they still have bragging rights.
New Orleans Saints
Coming off a bye the Saints are a game up in the South but have some crucial games coming up, including the New York Giants
Houston Texans
This is another team that may slip with their starting QB out for the season. They do have two tremendous running backs that are playing great football. I think they will keep winning, especially with the Colts on deck.
Detroit Lions
The Lions found a running game with Kevin Smith, it took the pressure off Stafford, and he ended up throwing five touchdowns. Thanksgiving against the Packers is going to be fun
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens lost this game, but a technicality earned them a victory over the Bengals and they now sit atop the North
Cincinnati Bengals
I like this team. They play hard and should have won Sunday. They have a tough schedule coming up, so we'll see how they finish up
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons chances of making the playoffs just got better with Cutler going down and the Giants losing to the Eagles. Look out for them in the next few weeks
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys won again this week because Shanahan decided to ice the kicker. Romo almost blew the game again for the boys. They have the Giants twice in the next few weeks so that will determine their fate.
New York Giants
No running game is killing the Giants. Bradshaw is expected to be back so that should help. They really need to sweep the Cowboys to have a chance at the playoffs now
New England Patriots
I have the Pats much lower than most people. I'm just not sold on them. They have Julian Edelman playing defense which will kill them against good teams. Brady cannot throw the ball down the field and once teams realize they need to take away Gronkowski as well as Welker, the Patriots will not do much.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders won a big game Sunday to stay a game up on the Broncos. McFadden is still out but Bush is playing well in his place. I expect them to win this division
Tennessee Titans
They lost a hard fought battle to the Falcons on Sunday and now sit two games back of the Texans in the South
Philadelphia Eagles
One more loss will officially put this team out of it. They have a pretty light schedule though so don't count them out just yet
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers gave the Packers a scare but Josh Freeman is turning the ball over way too much for this team to be successful
New York Jets
The Jets are starting to crumble at the worst time of the year. Sitting two games back of the Patriots who have an easy schedule and a game behind the Bengals in the playoff race, I don't see this team doing much down the stretch.
San Diego Chargers
Losers of five straight, the Chargers are all but done in the playoff race. Unless they can string together some wins, they are not going to make the playoffs. Their only shot is winning the weak AFC West
Buffalo Bills
The Bills are another team that's fallen apart. They are not playing well defensively at all and Fitzpatrick has been average at best since getting his contract.
Denver Broncos
How long can Tim Tebow keep up running the high school wish bone? Teams will watch enough tape on him to stop the Broncos winning streak
Miami Dolphins
All of a sudden the Dolphins are one of the hottest teams in the AFC behind Matt Moore. It's a little too late with seven losses, but look for them to play spoiler in some upcoming games
Minnesota Vikings
I think Ponder is going to be a good NFL quarterback, but he's still too young and doesn't have enough weapons outside to give this team a chance
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers jumped out on top of the Lions early, only to fall after Cam threw three picks and the defensive gave up three TD's to Kevin Smith.
Washington Redskins
A missed field goal cost them the game in OT. Then Shanahan does the boneheaded move of calling timeout to "ice" the kicker. If he hadn't done this, Romo would have cost the Cowboys 15 yards and put them out of field goal range. It's been that type of season
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks were able to beat the Rams, but that doesn't say much. This team will be officially out of the playoff race with their next loss or the 49ers next win
Arizona Cardinals
John Skelton failed miserably against the 49ers top ranked defense, and was benched. Looks like Kolb can sleep again comfortably
Kansas City Chiefs
It looked like they were going to be competitive for about a quarter, then it all fell apart against the Patriots. With Cassell out, this team will fall to the bottom of the West
Cleveland Browns
A horrible offensive team was able to squeeze out a victory against the even worse Jaguars. The Browns defense is the only bright spot of this team.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags should be called the Jacksonville Jones-Drews, because he is their only weapon...period
St Louis Rams
I can't put my finger on the problem, but Bradford is no where near the quarterback he was his rookie year. Is it injuries, lack of weapons, offensive line?
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts finally didn't lose a game this week...because they were off. At least Matt Leinart will play a college level team in his first start this weekend against this awful team.

I'm looking forward to seeing Matt Leinart play. At the beginning of the year, it would have been crazy to think the 49ers could clinch this week. That will be a fun game to watch on Thursday.

Thanks. I really think Brady might be the most over rated player of all time. He's in a good system that's proven to win without him. He can't throw down field. If you watch he never really completes a pass over 12 to 15 yards. He's very accurate on the quick slants and usually has all day to throw the ball. I just think he will get exposed like he has in the playoffs the past few years.

good hub, I disagree with your Patriots ranking. I think teams do realize who they have to take away but can't do it because Brady is too good.
