Legendary NFL Receiver

Jerry Rice was a first round draft pick out of Mississippi Valley State. He was chosen on a day that no quarterbacks were chosen as a number one draft. Rice went to the Super Bowl four times, winning three and also getting an NFL MVP in the process. Jerry Rice was a 13 x Pro Bowl selection and a 12 x All Pro selection. He holds many NFL records including most touchdowns with 208. He has 1,549 receptions and an amazing 22,895 receiving yards. He has a season record of 1,848 receiving yards. While it is true that Joe Montana tossed him the ball but, it is not at all true that Montana and Steve Young earned the majority of their numbers with Rice catching the passes. Also, Rich Gannon went from a good Quarterback to a NFL MVP and made a Super Bowl appearance with Jerry Rice leading the way in Oakland. Rice is the only player in history to score at least one Touchdown in four different Super Bowl games. Rice was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. That is unheard of. He has played 303 games in his career, which is number one all time among receivers. Rice did not just catch passes he caught hard to get balls by leaping in the air or diving. Jerry Rice was a players kind of player meaning, that he really got along with everyone on his team, management and he was very humble considering his stardom.

He was amazing to see him play. Each time he touched the ball or made that impossible catch, he would make something spectacular happen. Sometimes J.R. would appear to fly over the defenders as he made a one handed impossible catch and also he was great at catching balls and tip toeing along the sidelines to stay He is generally ranked either the best or the second best player in Football history. by historians everywhere. Rice has appeared in commercials Visa, Gatorade and All Sport and he was in Dancing with the Stars and Pros vs. Joes on Cable Television. Rice carries enough fame where even after his career came to an end he still was in several Zaxby's commercial ads. One thing everyone loved about Rice was his work ethic and dedication. He was the first to come and the first to leave for training and in the gym. Rice found a 2.5 mile run up a high hill and to this day the best of the 49ers get stamina from the hill and inspiration from the legendary Wide Receiver. Even as Rice wound down his career he was still able to help the Raiders go to the Super Bowl and he went to the Pro Bowl at age 38. A prime Jerry Rice was so good that he made the prime Terrell Owens and J.J. Stokes for that matter, look normal on the field. Watch the video footage and see. He was Michael Jordan of football and for the thrills he gave us we should be happy. Made for replay footage and he could sometimes do what seemed literally impossible. He proved that being a student of the game, skills and hard work can make you get to the absolute top.

Rice didn't just break passing records by catching perfectly placed bombs every time. Many times he had to stiff arm, high step and dive his way across the goal line. Not to mention he had to tip toe his way down the side lines many times and he made it look rather easy at times.

Rice Was Made For Highlights

Jerry Rice has had many highlight reel moments and has been on the news too many times to count especially, with his one handed tip toe catches. He has some of the best plays you will ever see on the grid iron. His years with the San Francisco 49ers will never be forgotten. Rice played with skills, heart and determination for his entire career. It does seems like good fortune found it's way to Rice. He was on the news a good deal with his highlights which were very, very numerous. He was one of my favorite players, while I was growing up.

I vividly remember Sports Illustrated commercials showing his amazing catches while trying to sell their magazines. And of course the Sportscenter highlights Rice gave us are priceless to say the least. One handed catches and his famous finger tip catches are stuff of legend.

Nice tribute hub you've done here. I will admit that I didn't appreciate Jerry Rice when I was growing up. Being a Dallas Cowboys fan, I recall many times when Rice and the 49ers defeated my Cowboys. As I got older though, I came to admire Jerry Rice and all that he accomplished while playing in the NFL. My godmother loves Jerry Rice. She met him once and he signed a football for her. That was in the late 90's, and she still has that ball to this day. Voted up, awesome, and shared on here and Facebook. Maybe my godmother will see this hub on Facebook when I share it, and give it a look. Nice job!

Jerry Rice was the best receiver of all time. I really enjoyed this hub. Reminds me of when we had to do a report on a famous person back when I was in the fifth grade. I chose Jerry Rice.
