NFL Week 10 Recap--My Predictions

Updated on November 16, 2015

Randal Bruce vs ESPN

Another brutal week for Randal. I finished 5-9 in Week 10. I'm not happy but at this point it is what it is. I don't feel so bad because the leader at ESPN was Merril Hoge at 8-6. The worst was Chris Mortensen and Keyshawn Johnson at 3-11. It was a tough week for everyone. Mortensen, Hoge and Tom Jackson are leading overall at 93-53. Eric Allen is bringing up the rear at 81-65. Overall, I'm 75-71. I'll take it. I still have a winning record, but not by much. Week 11 could do me in. We'll have to wait to see how things turn out. I need a big week desperately.

You can see my picks below. There is a link that will lead you to my division by division breakdown and picks and the next link will lead you to ESPN's.

Randal's Picks

My picks are in bold on the away and home columns.

Rex's Bills beat his former Jets employer in the Meadowlands

This was a big game for Rex Ryan. It was his return to New York against his former employer. His team pulled off a much needed win. It is impressive what these two coaches are doing with their teams. Neither team has a legitimate option at QB, but they are making the most of what they have. Rex gets the last laugh this time, even though his team almost blew a 22-3 second half lead.

Final Score: Bills 22-Jets 17

I picked the Bills because I thought that Rex would be fired up and get his team fired up for this game.

The Lions upset the Packers in Lambeau

3 Weeks ago the Packers looked like the class of the NFC. Now they look like they will be in a battle for a Wild Card spot. 3 straight losses in a row and there are a lot of questions about this Packer team. This loss being the worst of the 3. The other 2 were against Denver and Carolina. They are 2 of the best teams in the league, but losing to Detroit at home is a major blunder. The Packers need to right the ship soon or the surprising Vikings will run away with this division.

Final Score: Lions 18-Packers 16

I picked the Packers because they are almost unbeatable at home, especially against the Lions. The Lions hadn't won at Lambeau since 1991. I think this game bit a lot of people in the keyster, especially Packers fans.

The Panthers just continue to roll by beating the Titans and improving to 9-0

The Panthers continue to make winning ugly an art form. The Panthers improved to 9-0 behind the leadership of Cam Newton and their solid defense. Cam passed and ran for TD's. The defense held the Titans to 242 yards of total offense. The Panthers are running away with the NFC. No one saw this coming. Cam Newton should get some serious consideration for MVP.

Final Score: Panthers 27-Titans 10

I picked the Panthers because I didn't think the Titans had the talent to keep up.

The Bears deliver a beat down to the Rams in St. Louis

The Bears are a surprising 4-5 after a win over the Rams. I expected this team to struggle this year with the coaching change. They have fought all year long. They have just pulled themselves into the Wild Card picture. The Rams lose a winnable game at home. They are great against the NFC West and terrible outside of their division. This team has talent, but they have the wrong coach leading them. It continues to show.

Final Score: Bears 37-Rams 13

I picked the Rams because they were at home and I expected the Bears to struggle in John Fox's 1st year. They have been a big surprise to me.

The Dolphins bounce back with a win over the Eagles

This was a must win for both teams. The Dolphins rallied from being down 16-3 early. The Eagles again miss out on an opportunity to pass the Giants for 1st place in the NFC East. Luckily for them they are in a terrible divison. This game still only leaves them a half a game out of 1st place. The Dolphins needed the win to stay in the hunt in a very competitive AFC Wild Card picture.

Final Score: Dolphins 20-Eagles 19

I picked the Eagles because they were at home.

Big Ben comes in relieve and leads the Steelers to a big win over the Browns

Landry Jones started the game and went down with a leg injury. Big Ben had to come in relief and destroyed the Browns. The Steelers are tough to beat when Ben is in the line up. I think this team could be the scariest team in the playoffs if they get in. Ben was brilliant in relief. He passed for 379 and 3 TD's. The Steelers have explosive weapons in their WR core. Martavis Bryant led the way with 178 yards receiving and a score. Antonio Brown puts up another big game with 10 catches and 139 yards and 2 TD's. The Browns are having another horrible year and need to give Johnny Manziel the rest of the season to see if he can be the QB for this team.

Final Score: Steelers 30-Browns 9

I picked the Steelers because they are the superior team and they own the Browns.

The Bucs use a late Jameis Winston TD to hand the Cowboys their 7th straight loss

The Cowboys are fading fast in a very easy division. There are rumors Romo may be back next week. They will need him because Matt Cassel is awful. He makes this offense extremely limited. I am impressed with the way Jameis Winston is able to keep this team in games and pull off wins lately. The Bucs are improving and have pulled into the NFC Wild Card picture.

Final Score: Buccaneers 10-Cowboys 6

This is one of those picks that I made before the season that is killing me. I picked the Cowboys because they have more talent but I'm realizing their talent revolves around Tony Romo.

The Redskins blast the Saints behind an impressive showing by Kirk Cousins

The Redskins have been great at home this year. They are 4-1 at home. They are 0-4 on the road. Kirk Cousins has been solid at home. Especially in his last 2 games. He has been awful on the road. The Redskins are 4-0 when Cousins doesn't throw a pick and 0-5 when he does. It's that simple folks. They can't win on the road and definitely can't win when Cousins throws picks. Cousins was amazing against the awful Saints defense. He was 20-25 for 324 yards and 4 TD's. The Redskins running game came alive with Alfred Morris leading the way with 104 yards. The Saints will have struggles all year long with this defense. This game caused them to fire Rob Ryan after giving up 526 yards of total offense to the struggling Redskins offense. The Saints missed an opportunity and may be on the outside looking in to the playoff chase.

Final Score: Redskins 47-Saints 14

I picked the Redskins because they were at home and the Saints have a habit of losing to teams that they should beat.

The Jaguars get a much needed win over the Ravens

The Ravens are having a horrible season. They can't seem to get on track. It is very unexpected for a team that is usually in playoff contention every year. The Jaguars have kept their hat in the mix for the AFC South. The Colts haven't put this division away yet and the Jags have a shot.

Final Score: Jaguars 22-Ravens 20

I picked the Ravens because I thought they had more talent and were at home.

Adrian Peterson's 80 yard TD run sealed the deal for the Vikings win over the Raiders

What a difference a year makes. In Year 2 of Mike Zimmer's plan the Vikings are getting it. The fought last year and competed for a 7-9 record, but this year they are 7-2. A big reason is they get it and a major reason is that they have Adrian Peterson. Peterson is a special talent and they are immensely better with him. Peterson had a monster day with 203 yards rushing and a score. They are on top of the NFC North and the Packers are now chasing them. This was a big win over an improving Raiders team.

Final Score: Vikings 30-Raiders 14

I picked the Vikings because I thought they were a better team than the Raiders.

The Chiefs catch the Broncos by surprise in Denver

The Broncos have lost 2 in a row and have a problem on their hands. Peyton Manning was pulled from the game due to injury and ineffectiveness. He is struggling making routine throws. He threw 4 Int's as the Broncos were dominated by the Chiefs. It's unfortunate that his benching came during the game that he broke the passing record. We may see Brock Osweiler starting the next game for this team. This could be the end of the Manning era in Denver and the NFL. That's premature, but its not looking good. The Chiefs got a major win and at least keep their name in the playoff hunt. Their defense was the star of the day holding the Broncos offense to just 221 yards. They got 5 sacks and picked the Broncos QB's off 5 times.

Final Score: Chiefs 27-Broncos 13

I picked the Broncos because they are a dominant regular season team, especially in Denver

The Patriots exercise past demons and beat the Giants at the Meadowlands

It's always magic when these two teams lock up. Eli has owned Brady in the past, especially in the big game twice. This game lived up to the billing. Once again the Pats had their undefeated streak on the line. This time it was the Patriots that delivered in the clutch. This game doesn't make up for those 2 lost Super Bowls but I think it it's a mental hurdle the Pats needed to get over. You could tell by the way Brady reacted after the game. The defending champs continue to roll to 9-0 record. This was a huge loss for the Giants. They could have put a little distance between them and the rest of the horrible NFC East division. The Giants lead is only a half game over the Redskins and Eagles. Both QB's passed for over 300 yards and 2 TD's. Their top options Gronk and Beckham Jr both had 100 yard receiving games and a score each. It's always fun when the Giants and Pats hook up.

Final Score: Patriots 27-Giants 26

I picked the Giants because before this game Eli and the Giants had Brady and the Patriots number.

The Cardinals waltz into Seattle and stake their claim for the NFC West by beating the Seahawks in Seattle

The Cardinals were ready for this game folks. They know to take the next step they have to get by the Seahawks. They came in and punched the Seahawks in the mouth. The Cardinals are so much better with Carson Palmer leading the way. Palmer was not scared of the Legion of Boom. He went after them over and over. The Cardinals jumped to a 19-0 lead, but the Seahawks rally like they always do. They turned up the heat on Palmer and got two sack fumbles that they returned for TD's to take control of the game. Carson didn't waver and lead the team back down for two more scores to put this game away. It was Andre Ellington's 48 yard TD run that sealed the deal. Palmer carved up this Seattle defense for 363 yards and 3 TD's. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd gave this secondary fits. Fitzgerald finished with 10 catches for 130 yards. Floyd had 7 catches for 113 yards and 2 TD's. The Cardinals defense did a good job against the Seahawks. The score is misleading. The offense for Seattle was non existent. Russell Wilson was terrible. He completed less than 50% of his passes. Marshawn Lynch was a non factor. The defense takes the blame for the Seahawks struggles, but it's the offense that is constantly letting this team down.

Final Score: Cardinals 39-Texans 32

I picked the Seahawks because they are usually unbeatable at home.

The Texans stun the Bengals to give them their 1st loss

Just when you think the Bengals have finally turned the corner they let you down. No one expected them to go undefeated, but I don't think anyone saw them losing to a Texans team that has an awful QB situation. You have to give it to Bill O'Brien he has managed to keep this team together and they have a legit shot at winning the AFC South. They are tied for 1st and have just made things interesting. This was a tough hard fought win on the road upsetting the undefeated Bengals at home. The Texans deserve a lot of kudos.

Final Score: Bengals-Texans

I picked the Bengals because they are at home and have a better talent and a superior coaching staff.
